My apple mouse is getting where the ball will not scroll. there is no obvious way to take it apart. Can you take an apple mouse apart for cleaning? how? Thanks fellas!!!!
I didn't know mice still had balls. You can twist the cover off and spray with a non residual cleaner or come off $20 for a wireless laser one. Hope this helps.
Always bugged me when I had one of those. The best thing I found was to pour some alcohol on a towel and run it over the ball really fast and with a good bit of pressure. Usually worked for a few weeks, and then if you have an Apple store near you they should just replace it after you tell them you tried to clean it, I think I went though about 3 of them in a couple years.
Oh, they've got 'em, all right . . . No punching below the belt rule is in force. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ahhhh, Uro...? How exactly did the mouse get sticky?.....You know you should be going to those type sites!
How old is that mouse? I haven't seen or used one with a ball in 5 years! Currently using the Magic Mouse which is very cool - http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/
It has a small ball on top that your index finger engages, not a big ball up under. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine tends to work when it wants to Rubbing Alcohol is good advice and works well. This is what I have been cleaning mine with when my track ball wont work. I will be upgrading to the new Magic Mouse soon.
What worked for me: 1. Grab a piece of paper 2. Hold the mouse up and turn it over 3. With the mouse upside down, try to scroll with the paper inbetween your finger and the ball. You might need to push pretty hard. Good luck!
