On mine, I added few Velcro strips to keep the mat firm on the floor.
    All the best,

Hi all. Nic with a 328 GTS here. Months ago I noticed the gas pedal was a bit harsh, especially to break from idle. Today I had the engine running at 3.000 rpm with the pedal fully released. Opened the rear hood, pushed the wire back. Reignited, the minumum was again at 1.000 ish.
In your opinion can this mean that my issue is more the wite than the pedal?
Those who found wored/frayed cables, after how many kms/mi did it?
    My car ha 76.000 km.
Big thanks to all. Best regards,
    Nic

Could also be grunge in the pedal assembly. If the car is elevated, it’s a fairly uncomplicated project to clean and lube the pedal assembly from below (there is an access panel) and to inspect the cable. I found my cable was starting to break at the rear pulley, probably because the pulley was no longer rotating but rather was stuck with grit. It was a simple process to clean and lube the pulley and replace the cable once I discovered the access plug in the bottom pan that allows you to guide the new cable from one carrier tube to another. Not sure why Ferrari chose to use a two part tube vs one.

Mine broke at 56,000 miles. As far as I know the cable was original and failed after ~40 years. It started to get sticky a few months then failed completely while driving. Looked like simple age related metal fatigue to me.

Definitely worth just changing both throttle and clutch cables if the age is unknown as a preventive measure then forget for the next 30 years.

It’s also worth changing trunk release cables as well if not already done. They fail due to age also but at least they have back ups.

If it is the throttle pedal that is the issue rather than the cable, it’s worth rebuilding it and replacing the roller bearings in there. They rust up pretty easily.

Then there is the grunge and carpet fuzz in there as mentioned that should be cleaned out.

    Thanks for the replies.
Definitely wise to replace the cables every 30 years or so!
I think in my case it is the cable because while the pedal comes back to “zero”, the butterfly mechanism remained under a bit of cable tension.
Might be due to the cold these days too here in Rimini, Italy.
All the best to you all.

Good morning everyone and happy new year.
With the workshops closed these days, what exact product do you recommend to lubricate the cable?
    Many thanks,
    Nic

I fully agree with you and already called the workshop. They’ve a waiting list. Meanwhile, even just to get there, I want to lubricate it to avoid having the engine getting stuck at 3.000 rpm.
Many thanks and happy new year to you too!
    Nic
