Already removed the stickey stuff from the interior door handles and the window up-down buttons a year or so ago, now the circular a/c vents are sticky like a lollipop...

WHAT TO DO? any cheap, easy fix?

    -carbon replacement----where?
-removal of the gunk, down to black plastic?
    -replacement parts---where?

    thanks for posting...

Replacements are cheaper than similar vents for a 355 or 348:

BUT, another alternative might be to try fitting the 575M vents, which have a silver trim ring and one less surface to become sticky:

It's nice to know that a problem which began in 1989 with the 348 has never been addressed. 599 switches and vents have the same nice features too. Amazing, really. Not many manufacturers could get away with this.

So this is the same type of sticky problem that was on the 355's? If it is I can't believe they didn't get it fixed. Search this problem for 355's and determine if that fix will solve the problem.

Same problem. Vents are harder to clean than flat panels. It can certainly be done, but it's harder because of all those little slats and louvers. The goo gets stuck into all the crevices. It's really a question of what your time is worth... but it can be done. The underlying base plastic does not have the identical same color, and has a satin sheen to it, instead of matte black.

EDIT: and you lose the white arrows when you scrape the goo off. Not like that's a deal killer, mind you, but something to remember.

  7. JPD, you may try calling Wil at Maranello Racing Cars, eventhough I replaced most of the interior with CF, the others were either fixed or painted by them and actually looks very good.

Where did you get the CF pieces for the a/c vents?

  9. Sorry for miscomunicating, the CF was on most of the parts except the AC vents, these were cleaned down to the black plastic, and painted.

I'm pretty sure a firm tug is all it takes. There is a rubber o-ring on the plastic air conveyor behind the dashboard, and that's what 'seals' the vent onto the conveyor.

This is the first I've ever heard of this prob on the 360's.. It is ridiculous. As mentioned before, no other manufacturer could get away with this.

Daniel: Great work, you're the best!

MButner: You know what's so funny, is my three year old BMW 745LI, I am the second owner, the door sill is all scuffed, and peeling (from use) I brought it to BMW and they replaced all four for me, at no CHARGE!

Ahhh, Ferrari! Got to love ownership!~

Wow, that dealer knows how to keep a customer. I personally think this should be the norm, not the exeption on a $80k+ car (BMW).

JP, I have done mine also. It easily cleans with some Goof-Off. I have even heard of using oven cleaner although I have not used it. Once you clean it, it won't get sticky again. Don't use anything stronger otherwise you will end up painting the plastic pieces or having to replace them. I just did my a/c and temp gauges a few weeks ago with the same process.
A nuisance for such an expensive vehicle if you ask me!

It looks like the vents have a small plastic catch tab that should be pushed back somehow to get the vents out based on the photo. I would go for the 575 with the satin metal trim. For $75 plus shipping it is a bargain. I wish the 348 vents were so cheap!
    :)
