I should add that graphic on older cars that are non illuminated are done via pad printing / silk screening. So that would be the most accurate method to restore those parts but it requires tooling.

Jeff, I have no experience with this product - if you want to send some here, we can test it.

That said, our coatings are chemical resistant to even some very harsh chemicals such as brake fluid - see this video:

Once fully cured, to hurt our coatings would take some very aggressive chemicals such as lacquer thinner and alike. I can't see the Griot's product having anything aggressive within it so my gut tells me it will be fine. I'm more curious what type of film it would leave behind.

We really need to get with a company and start offering a cleaner.

Thanks. It's a very benign formula so I'm sure it would be fine. I use it infrequently, usually on the day of a show. It applies cleanly and leaves no residue.

When I read this fast I only read the first sentence and immediately realized that the quality of your DONE parts has dropped.
Then I read it again and thought "thank god"

Ops. You said "HVAC". On a 348 they are all overlays.

Any chance you make those “not for sale any more” ferrari dash script plates for 355’s that go between radio and pass airbag

Sorry guys, that has the Cavallino on it which is a Ferrari registered trademark. We don't violate that.

Dave, I think you've touched on it in the past in other threads, but any latest/greatest progress on finding a soft touch finish that won't melt down after a number of years? Have you been experimenting with potential substitutes (e.g. Alsa soft touch) for the oem finish and if so any interim results? Not asking about brand etc, as I know that you'd need to keep it proprietary, just if any progress/results.

We currently have a soft touch (black only) that is from our same manufacture. We use it on parts that require flex as our hard touch would crack in those cases. It's an excellent product. Will it last? Time will tell.

For the record, we have absolutely zero plans at this time to use a soft touch as our main coating - too much risk with very little gain. McLaren, Landrover, Porsche no longer use soft touch and our hard touch is as good, if not better, as what they use.

I feel I can weigh-in here because I recently had Dave refinish ever single part on my 99 355 F1 Berlinetta. To me, the finish is indistinguishable from the original "soft touch" . Dave's finish actually has a sift texture to it. For what it's worth, the car received Platino, scoring a perfect 100 points at the Cavallino Classic two weeks ago.

Thank you, Jeff - please allow me to elaborate.....

So, we have had a number of clients say "You said this is not soft touch, it sure feels soft to me". Here is the reason:

Our coating has no measurable texture - to see the texture requires magnification - the coating lays down that flat. Then, the chemical properties of the coat give it a silky / slippery feel.

So, it has the illusion of being soft, but it's 100% hard touch :)
