The F430 Spider is a spectacular car but I find it amazing that Ferrari can sell automobiles (mine had a $252K sticker price) and not voluntarily replace the sticky parts. Admittedly most of these are beyond warrantee but given the current price range and the reputation of Ferrari, it should be incumbent upon them to correct a know factory defect in material selection.

I know about Sticky No More - Exotic Cars Interior Refinishing Services but it shouldn't take a third party to correct this problem. Evidently they have solved the problem.

If anybody from FNA is reading this, you should address this problem. Ferrari has a tremendous following and should support this loyalty.

Ferrari appears not to be the first class company. This sticky crap has been going on for several models. They don't learn or care.
    Will I purchase another? NO!!!!!!

This has been going on forever. I remember years ago when my F355 parts started to go and my friends with 360's and 430's would laugh at me. I told them back them to just wait and it would just be a matter of time before their interior parts would melt. The day has come...

I believe Porsche once reconsidered a courtesy repair on a major component defect triggered by a petition. Can't hurt to try. Testarossa owners are considering something similar on the welded diff issue but we all realize its a long shot :)

I have old american vehicles that are not sticky inside. I think it is an outrage that it has not been addressed.

My DD Renault has parts which have gone sticky. Its a problem on many cars and there are specialists the trade use to deal with the problem. They will send used cars for sale to these people for full valet and "de-sticky" before showroom.

Does anybody know for sure if the "sticky no more" parts won´t get sticky again?

I´ve seen many cars of different brands and years with sticky or peeling dashboards, and I´m still wondering why they just don´t use plain hard plastic like in the 80s. True, it looks worse, but it´s easier to clean and won´t peel off.

Is this all there is to tell?? No handy blokes among us? A do-it-yourself solution?

My racing ski-boots (Rossignol, Tecnica TNT, now Lange RS 130....Italian... :( ) breaks in a thousand pieces every 6 years.....has to do with some weakeners they use. Didn't happen in the past.
Think Ferrari use's the same weakeners in the materials that causes this s..t! I guess the weakeners just evaporate from the materials. If so, a coating before may prevent from evaporation.
There must be a solution. No chemical specialists among us?

And curious about that 'L' ......Lotus, Lexus, LamboLada, Lyundai, Lercedes, Laserati? :)

The sticky issue has already started with some of the early Californias. This is beyond belief that such an obvious defect has been allowed to continue in spite of all the issues with this since the 355. Have recently corrected my 360 03 by utilizing Sticky No More. To answer the question poised above as to recurrence once corrected by sticky no more. The answer is no. He does a great job. Incidentally the problem also existed with some MB models, as well as some Porsche models and some Lambo. I don't know if they have corrected their problem or stood behind the inferior paint process utilized.
Many don't realize the inferior metal work that was utilized with the Daytona and the Dino in the day. They were rust buckets as the inner and outer metal skins had a void that trapped water, moister. Parts in the tail section had asbestos type material that once wet stayed wet. The bottom nose section of my 72 Dino and part of the tail section needed replaced approximately 4 yrs after purchase in 73, then again in 83 prior to sale all at my own expense. Car spent it's entire life in Fl. The new Daytona seats when exposed to Fl. sun began to bleed red anytime the temp. reached 80 esp when the humidty was high. I love my 360 as it has been a great car with the exception of the sticky problem.

Actually, it'd been since the 348. so that would put the issue dating back to 1989.

I had this occur on one of my Porsches around 2004 after it was well past it's warranty period and Porsche stepped in and did a full correction with replacement parts, etc. at No Cost to me.

Of all the problems with these cars we are "stuck on" the paint on interior parts.

Agreed, it's pathetic but they have "other issues"....they sell every car they make and you can either tolerate it or not.

When I went through this I used a trick from my days of building model cars. If a paint job didn't turn out well it could be safely stripped using Mr. Clean oven cleaner, soft plastic finger nail brush and rubber oven cleaner gloves. After you soak the part in an alloy oven tray the sticky paint is easily brushed off and thereafter plenty of soap and water readies the part for your car again.

What you are left with is a textured bare plastic part that has a great finish, no need for paint. It works great for all the plastic parts but your ashtray door will be stripped back to metal.

    Give it a shot.

I think everyone goes through the realization at one time or another. Ferrari doesn't give a rip if the interior gets sticky. When they have trouble selling new cars because if it then they will care. Nothing else will change that.

    Ferrari doesn't car about you.

Ferrari doesn't car about your car.

Ferrari cares about selling new cars.

This isn't rhetoric either. They really don't. They don't care on a level unmatched by other manufactures. Again everyone goes through the realization at one time or another. You can choose to accept it and still own an F-car or buy something else.

Enzo is in his grave turning over to flip you off.

Haha, Ferrari quality still manages to surprise folks. It's part of the charm of the brand and at some point you either you tolerate it or you reject it. For American cars, they could not get away with this at their volume and price point, but Ferrari can as long as the cars drive better than anything else on the road.

I just watched the movie The Counsellor by Ridley Scott. There were several Ferraris and they were clearly promotional product placement in the movie and indeed Ferrari appeared in the credits. And yet in the movie they made a joke that the reliability was terrible and Italians don't care.

I had to replace the glovebox door switch and the reverse switch in a 2010 599, just last summer. There are a few other switches and plastic bits with that coating that will be getting replaced this year as well. Some of it is big bucks!!
