    Hi everyone, has anyone removed the seat backs on the 599 to repaint the sticky paint? I’ve repaired all other areas, but I can’t seem to find any info on how easy these seat backs are to remove. Of course I can see the four screws holding the harness holes, but where else are they attached? Is it an easy job?

    We have refinished those seatbacks many times, but cannot find any current pics of them dis assembled.

    265ferrari, I would be forever indebted if you could advise me what the procedure is for removal. And if its an invasive task or not. I mean does leather need to be reglued or other troublesome outcomes.

    pauhanajim - thanks for the video. As I had suspected (if in fact the seats are the same?) I will probably not be doing this repair. I cannot allow the seat leather to be unglued, since leather is notoriously difficult to reattach, and the outcome is generally worse than the actual initial problem (sticky seat backs).

    the leather is not glued to the seats. it is held in place by a welt sewed into the edge of the leather. the leather is pulled tight around the edge of the seat and the welt tucked into groove in the seat. it is a little tricky.

    I removed my seatbacks this way because they were horribly sticky.

    Leather is very easy to remove from the contour of the backrest. Then you just need to secure it and you can paint the backrest. The foam in the foil is glued and the skin is held by a wire in the foam with circles. You just need to drink it on the back and around the perimeter and secure it.
