Sometimes have a catch in the throttle of my 86 328, at low speed makes for jerky cruising. Cable seems to move smoothly, have unbolted it at both ends, but have not been able to remove it. Replaced one in my 308 without any problems, but still not sure the cable is the problem. Any ideas?

If you have unbolted it at both ends, you also need to unscrew the threaded outer housing from under the air plenum and unbolt it from one of the m6 nuts on the front cam cover and then the cable will pull out from the back of the car.

But, I would also clean and lube the throttle plate and its various connections.

    Hi,
Every now and then my throttle acts the same. It's not the cable, it's the spherical end where it attaches to the butterfly body.
One shot of WD40 and good to go. I have also sprayed the butterfly links and shaft... this doesn't seem to improve the softness as much as spaying the ball joint(sphere).

    Good luck, John

My throttle was just touching the fuel hose clamp. Its not always a cable.

Thanks guys. Did all of the above, working smoothly, not sure what it was, but took apart that ball fitting, cleaned, greased and adjusted.
