So now I'm getting annoyed. I got my 2005 360 spider (manual transmission) back yesterday from dealer. I've owned the car for a month and only been able to drive it twice! First time I drove it, after car warmed up, 1st and 2nd gears started to get harder and harder to get into. I checked out ferrarichat and figured maybe the bushings were bad. Called the dealer, they picked up the car. After a few days they said that the 'cables ' needed to be adjusted and that everything was fine. As the car was there I had the bushings replaced with the aluminum ones. Drove car yesterday, SAME PROBLEM!! When warm I have to give the stick an almighty push to get into 1st and 2nd. It does help to pump the clutch but WTF? Car has 6k miles. As I have never owned or driven a ferrari before is this normal?? All other gears go in easily. Thanks for your responses in advance .

FWIW there are some gear lubricants that have considerably better action than others within the Ferrari manual box. Perhaps try a different lubricant. I dont think a Ferrari manual will EVER feel like say a Porsche box, but with your description & issue it seems to have something askew.

You have not given any of your geographic details and do not say if its an authorised or even known Ferrari specialist - I'm not saying name names but these aren't cars that can be diagnosed without experience and it could be that thats the problem

Drain the gearbox and check for coolant contamination.

I agree something off. May still be the cables or the lube. First to second gear cold is normal mine takes about 10 min till if starts to feel right.

That or the bushing on the gearbox where the cable connects is spongy/worn

If pumping the clutch pedal helps, I suggest bleeding the clutch slave cylinder, as there may be air in it. It's possible the seals are bad. That's where I'd look given what you describe and what's already been done. But the others are right. Make sure you get a Ferrari specialist to diagnose this. What you describe is not normal.

It's not normal. From easy-to-hard, try this: Bleed the clutch first. You can do that yourself, but don't over tighten the bleed screw or you'll crack the block (quite common, so be careful and use a small torque wrench to get it right)

If that doesn't fix it, if could still be the linkage not adjusted properly. Try a different mechanic.

If that doesn't fix it try this: At a standstill in first gear, release the clutch just enough to feel it engage and then put it to the floor. Do that four or five times and then hold it to the floor. Wait and see if the car starts creeping forward within 30 seconds or a minute. If it does, then there is a good chance your master cylinder seals are bad. Replace it. The part costs about 100 Euro.

If the master cylinder seems good, then change your transmission oil and BE SURE to have the screen cleaned. Unless someone cut a small access hole in the diffuser, you'll have to remove the bumper to remove the screen which explains why these screens go many years without being changed.

I use Redline 75W90 NS without friction modifiers. It has made my 360 manual transmission shift more smoothly, especially going into second gear when the transmission is cold.

If that doesn't fix it, it could be your slave cylinder. Unfortunately, the slave cylinder is built into the throw out bearing, so the fix is more expensive because you have to separate the engine and transmission.

    Good luck.

Tim- You mean ethylene glycol does not make a good gear lubricant?
