This was probably delivered right at the peak of the ferrari boom, sealed up and stored to someone who thought it could only appreciate in value.
...And to have not given up on the boom-time dream of immense appreciation after so long - wow. I would have broken down and driven it years ago! (of course I have no real idea what this person's true motivation for storing this car was)
My guess is the new owner didn't know how to drive a stick.... I couldn't really guess as to the minimum price for the holder to claim as profitable, considering inflation adjustments.
Your are right that the original thread has been thoroughly highjacked, but I learned a lot as a result. In any case, my personal search is over as I purchased a nice 86 with a little higher mileage and patiently (not) await its delivery. Then the really "newbie" questions will begin from this novice owner.
Congrats on your purchase, since ultra low mileage was a big factor with you, may I ask what the mileage is ?
