My newly acquired 430 Scud came with an OEM battery charger, and it has its own proprietary charging port located under the dashboard. Too bad the charger is probably dead, nothing happens when it's plugged in.

So, have anyone tried to use a CTEK charger with the OEM charging port? Does the charging port go directly to the battery?

It looks like i can just cut the cable off the OEM charger and use it with a CTEK charger.

Yes, you can do this to the Cteck charger. There's two wires from the cteck charger and four slots on the oem charger, one will be empty, jump one wire from the (+) to one of the slot marked #2. This will allow to indicate the charging in process light on the dash cluster when the car is connected to the charger if key is in the ignition.
Here's the wire scheme for the oem charger head:

    #1(red)

    #2(jump to #1) #4(empty)

    #3(black)

Mike, there is info on here about which specific parts to order (from Mouser) and how to wire it with a C-tek charger and the stock port. I have ordered parts and put together tails for both my Scud and my 612. It does more than just going to the battery as it disables starting the car when connected to the stock port. Let me know if you can't find it.

My factory Ctek seems a bit fiddly in operation (I have the updated, warranty replacement according to my service advisor, as all the original ones went bad). I went ahead and got a Granite battery tender (recommended by Brian Crall) and made an adapter from the thread on making your own connector. Turned out great!
