Great time, I went in 2002 to Pocono. Had a blast. Trying to get some guys together next year to do it in Richmond.

My father and I did the Monster Racing Experience at Dover three years ago. Neither of us watch that type of racing but Dodge sent us for free and we had a blast! I would recommend it as well. It is a bit scary but a ton of fun!

NNO no the pictures of the guy getting into the car were taken by me.

That is a friend of mine who is a very accomplished race car driver and a multiple F-Car owner(F-40,360 spyder,TR,Dino)

Augustino, I am NOT into Nascar but driving all day at 160+ MPH in someone elses car is my idea of a fun day!!!

Same here man. I couldn't possibly turn down an offer to drive any race car on an actual track for free. That would just be plain silly!

In my group, we shun NASCAR because of the outdated technology, simple tracks, redneck appeal, and lack of homologation cars (monte carlo SS. Need i say more?). NASCAR is cabbie racing. Didn't know that was an obscure reference. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get my hands on one, but it would be at the bottom of my list of race cars to drive.
Did it feel like a competent sports car compared to the f-car or is just a lot of power?

Cool stuff. I've been wanting to do that for a while now. Hopefully someday I'll be able to do the F1 school in sweden. :)

Check out the laptimes at Infineon - nearly identical between a Porsche GT3 and Jeff Gordon's 2004 qualifying time. Gordon being only 2 seconds slower.

As far as I know they are using the same track layout.

Pretty impressive given the stockcar has a solid rear axle. Montoya seemed pretty impressed with it. Although I doubt he would have said this thing sucks either.

Just asking, but why didn't the NASCAR obliterate the GT3? It must have double the power-to-weight ratio.

    LOL. I have no idea.

But that really isn't the point, is it?

In your post, you trashed the NASCAR'S and implied they were not competent sportscars. If they are so bad, how do you explain the comparison to the GT3? Surely there isn't a cab meter in the GT3, is there?

Yeah but that means the Nascar is just a piece with straight line speed.

To half half the power to weight ratio and still beat it...

The GT3 OWNED the nascar, and it costs hundreds of thousands less.

I'm not so sure about the 100's of thousands less.

Anyway - Infineon is just one comparison - where the NASCAR was 2 seconds slower.

Any ideas if the GT3 would only be 2 seconds slower around - say - Lowes Motor Speedway? :)
