A few years back there was a story about an F40 being stolen from a Ferrari dealership in South Eastern PA, Algar. Any truth to this, and if so whatever happen with this? was the car recovered? Or is there a missing F40 out there?

The car was most likely stripped having its body panels replaced with genuine Pontiac Fiero fenders and deck lid. My bet it is sitting in the collection of some prominent Hip Hop singer as we speak.

    ;)

Sorry F50...I still can't imagine how you can't track down one of these cars. There are like 300 or 400 of them. where could it have gone? How do you hide that thing? Is there a reward if I were to find it?

349 according to F. Statisticians may differ.

Reward? ehh..ask Algar. And what do you mean if you were to find it?

I know for the right price, I would spend my days tracking down the car.

Ahh. These sorts of rewards are typically contingent upon results not merely good-intentioned searching.

I'm still speechless...How does a car like this just disappear?

    Lots of ports near Philly.
513 horsepower 4.7liter V12 helps it disappear a little quicker than a Sable.
Non-compliant foreign countries that look the other way or don't care. My guess is Russia.

Anyone going through all these steps is going to want to get paid for it...So the buyer spent allot of money, one way or another...They either 1... Kept it as is.. or 2... parted it out. If 2. are there any projects out there with a F50 engine? ( shouldn't be to hard to spot) and if one what are you doing with the car? You can't drive this thing anywhere, that someone will not know at least what it is. Is there a chance a current Legal F50 owner may have wanted some spares?

Didn't I see a F50 registry on this site somewhere?
I could start by Geo coding the addresses, (applying a latitude and longitude to each of the addresses), this would give you a visual of where the cars are located. If there are reports of an F50 being spotted outside of these areas, I would start looking there.

No chance that thing was taken apart. It is sitting in someone's garage somewhere, where it will likely sit forever.

Exactly... except the "forever" part. It will resurface at some point. Maybe in Japan, maybe after the current "owner" dies and it comes back into the public light.

It will be one of the most interesting F50's at that point.

I would guess it's still in the USA. If it was stolen with the intent to sell it to an owner who would drive it, then it would have already popped up somewhere outside the jurisdiction of the authorities (like Japan). So my guess is that whoever owns it, just wants to have it in their care and doesn't mind not driving it... either that, or some vin tag trickery has taken place and this F50 is running around disguised as a legit F50.

We will know the rest of the story some day.

I have it. I'll bring it back to Algar soon. I just want to enjoy it for a little while longer.

Can you tell me more? I thought it was still gone.

You're probably right about that. Now that I am thinking about it, it is likely that the "owner" is the only person who knows the true story behind this car. Telling a lot of people that you have a stolen car, let alone a stolen $800K Ferrari, isn't something that many people would do. Since the car, as far as I know, hasn't been recovered this is likely the case. If this is true, it is likely to turn up when the current "owner" passes away. It will probably end up for sale by a family member who believes the car to be legit, and then the mystery will finally be solved.

    Guys.

This mystery was solved long ago.
The whereabouts of the car are known.
The current ownership of the car is known.
The wheels of Justice are turning.

When the people who know what happened want to talk about they will.

Well, the mystery wasn't solved so long as most of us don't know the details :)

So is this two f-chat F-50 mysteries now (the car the FBI crashed and the deal surrounding it) plus the Algar F50, or are they one and the same?

But sadly not powered by a 4.7l V12 - so will we hear something any sooner than under the previous theory (owner dying)? :)

No, the one that the FBI crashed was previously owned by a member here.
