Chevy is known for hairline cracked flywheels that present itself as a clutch issue.

I have a set of chrome sledge hammers LOL

Whats the clutch not doing? What style is it?

I got no master leaks no slave leaks but the system will not bleed out 100%. Microbubbles develop then coalesce over time to a bigger bubble. System bleeds out big bubble then continued bleed brings out microbubbles like frothy trace in fluid not much. let sit and can bleed a bigger bubble not enough to interfere with clutch action but under race conditions and heat that air expands. C5 Z06 engine/torque tube/gearbox/annular throwout bearing/slave. suspected frothing of fluid from master and changed it because it is easy. Tomorrow going to submerge remote bleed line into reservoir and pump the cr@p out of it like doing a bench bleed of a master. If that does not work then drop driveline and replace slave. Clutch dust known to wear seals and cause leaks. Only 5000miles but race miles. I'm trying to ignore the most likely answer because taking out driveline is a PITA.

Sounds like your have the answer

If you pressure bleed it at a very very low psi 2-4 for extend time and still does it the slave will be the issue. If the seals are bad it will emulsify the fluid causing bubbles.

Is there an upgrade to a different slave possibly or relocate it .

I recently helped a neighbor bleeding his brakes after he rebuilt his front calipers. We went through a gallon of fluid and got soft pedal. Then I noticed that the calipers had the bleed nipples upside down. We swapped the calipers left to right and re-bled successfully. Here is the most funny part:

The next weekend, there was a puzzle on Car Talk where a guy rebuilt his calipers, could not bleed the brakes, took it to his mechanic they swapped out Master, went through a gallon of fluid, gave up. He took it to a dealer, they swapped out another Master, went through a gallon of fluid, and gave up. So "if you knew what the answer is, write it on the back of a 25 dollar bill and ..... "

I called my neighbor and sure enough he knew what the answer was.

I am very sure this is not FBB case.

Nope not my case. It is 90% that I want to ignore dropping my driveline. But what a great story on the upside down calipers. Hey...great job on Ketel's 355. We did nothing to it. Tim taught him how to flush his brake system. He is going to have a nice driver.

Yup and I'm ignoring it. I'm sidetacked now adding a new giant gearbox and diff cooler to the racecar as we speak. If you are bored PM me and come on over. I'm in Palos verdes. We can then go down to Redondo and heckle Plugzit. I am sure he is in the garage too. I'm feeling like El Burito Junior or a gutbomb at Joe's.

For the record, I disagree with FBB on one thing - I bleed both caliper nipples always. He takes the short cut and only does the outside ones unless he did major work on the system. Whatever, to each his own. I also love my power bleeder. The 2 man method is more fun since you have a buddy to BS with but isn't necessary. Usually when I'm at Bruce's we have 2 men but I use the power bleeder while he watches until I need a foot on the pedal. ;)

One day you come over when I'm rebuilding multi bleeder calipers and I will show you how to bleed a fresh rebuilt caliper, devoid of brake fluid having only air in it, just from the outside screw.

With your "power" bleeder you have under 20 PSI driving the fluid. Your foot really commands power. Foot derived line pressures are like 1000-2000psi. You were there when "only" the foot would bleed the challenge car clutch at Bruce's. In fact I even had to trick that. When I do this I want to "move fluid" and debris trapped in the fluid. I don't want the fluid dribbling out like an old man with prostate problems.

Fatman, more pressure is not better. Since you are only pushing out a small amount of fluid bleeding and a bit more on flushing, it doesn't matter if it's 1000 psi or 20. The crap comes out just the same. Plus you don't run the risk of trashing the master cylinder piston gasket. Ever have someone press the brake pedal too far down to the floor? These lines do not hold much fluid anyway. Plus remember it's a hydraulic pressure multiple thing. What does 20 psi at the reservoir mean at the caliper nipple? Who cares? ;)

You can't change the laws of Newtonian physics and how a fluid flows in a pipe. You may wish to study it. It will give you clues as to how to overcome the entropy of debris and air. You will not trash a master with your foot. It is designed for that pressure. If your system is so bad you rip the seals on crud in the master you have bigger problems. That ship has already sailed for flushing your brakes. You are a Stooge right? Put a 2x4 under the brake pedal then step on it.
Is Ernie putting you up to this conversation?

There is a non-op POS Ferrari 400i on craigslist for $12k. Let's say we buy it for 9 and cut out the back El Camino style and add in a pizza oven. What do you think? Pizza for Stooge Fest 2015!

Fatman you can actually damage the piston gasket by pumping the brake pedal to the floor when bleeding. Check the basic directions anywhere. The proper pedal pushing method is to press it partly to the floor, not all the way, which is why many people use a wood block under the pedal particularly when their spouses are the assistants. Personally I have never encountered the problem, but I'm just reporting the technique. The fact that neither of us has trashed one doesn't mean that it cannot happen. Feel free to mash the pedal down with your fat wing and fried turkey bloated foot. Let me know when you finally kill the master seal. I might even come over to watch you fix it.

Maybe we should discuss something really controversial like what oil to use in the gearbox?

Hey Peter, is that date set in stone? I have a wedding on the east coast to attend that will take me out until October 1st. Not that having me there will necessarily add anything to the party, but I really enjoyed our get-together last month.

I could do October 11 but is that starting to get too late in the year? There was a StoogeFest last September so just trying to keep around the same schedule. I'll put it out there like Vince did for an informal "vote".

Is there a preference for September 20th or October 11th?
