First and foremost - I have the best respect for the Mass State Police...I worked for five years in highway safety around the country and our guys are among the most professional in the country...except the one I met today.

Here is the story - I was off to run an errand in the fcar and pulled on to 95 south at 97 and sat in amidst the traffic that I got on the highway with. After about 1 minute, a car cruising up the left lane pulled alongside. I assumed it had been an undercover trooper just given its speed but it was a SILVER FORD FIVE HUNDRED that was totally indistinguishable from a showroom stock car.

Instantly it swerved between me and the car in front of me and brake checked me. I would have smashed into him or someone behind me would have smashed me...it was that abrupt. I thought "idiot"...but let it pass and then a few hundred feet later the car pulled into the lane to the right. It then pulled up against my right door so I figured it must be some perverted Ferrari fan and was taking pictures or whatever. So be it. The windows were tinted black and I still thought it looked like an undercover...

After another 30 seconds against my door, I turned and looked at the shadow in the window and said "What the hell are you doing???" at which point a few feet later he swerved behind me against my bumper.

Here is where I either did the right thing or the wrong thing. I took a picture of him! Of course, it was the wrong thing because he instantly turned on all the christmas lights left over from WalMart and pulled me over. It was the right thing because I would have used it in my defense.

I sat there and his first words were "You need to relax!" - I was stunned - I told him what he did...swerving in front of me and slamming on his brakes and his response was "What if I was an old lady and did that"...Of course, now I'm thinking this is one strange dude....He then tells me that I need to relax, that they didn't want any road rage issues, that they had 95 full of troopers on Saturday, and that I should enjoy the nice weather and that he missed his exit because of me etc...etc...

I tell you what - there used to be a statistic in the 90's that the single highest cause of death for troopers was standing on the side of the highway. I'm infuriated that this bozo put his life and mine at danger in order to try to provoke me into responding to his multiple attempts to get me to retaliate or respond.

I will go through the proper channels to let the right folks know the details...in the meantime, Trooper "D" - if you want to look at a Ferrari then buy a friggin' magazine.

Be safe out there guys - and keep an eye out for this silver Ford Five Hundred.

(Edit - He said that I pulled out my "futuristic camera thingy" before he pulled me over....hey pal...it's called a cellphone...)

Thanks Greg - 95 is my favorite Ferrari tune up road. So after all that, no citation?

It's always scary to see one of these guys abusing his power. I am glad to hear that you are reporting him. I had a similar experience in my STi. Basically the guy had nothing on me and pulled me over to lecture me on having a fast car. I did not take the bait and that was that.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I was in my 355 on Fri. and passed a unmarked on a secondary hwy where he was parked. He pulled out behind the car in back of me. He continued to follow on to the hwy. He starts to pull up next to me and then sits there. I casually look over, he rolls down the pass. window and gives me the "get on it" hand wave with a big smile! I smile back and and say no thanks. He get's on it and I follow for 1/2 mile and wave him on. Very funny and unusual. Who knows, maybe he was baiting me as well!!!!

Odds are you did not get his name or badge number, yet the time/day and photo/description will aid in your filing a proper complaint. You'll want to send two copies of the written complaint via USPS certified mail. Send one one to his precinct and one to the State. From what you say, he was driving recklessly and was endangering the public. You may want to file charges accordingly.

We do have police officers that scan Ferrari Chat and am sure they would agree his behavior should be alerted to his commanding officer and to the State.

I would have gotten his phone number and invited him out for a drive....it is GOOD to have friends on the force, you never know when your next speeding ticket will arrive and need 're-examination'.....
