This thread goes out to all of you who are on the sidelines scared to follow your dreams. That was me a year ago. Worried about buying an unreliable car which was a ticking time bomb. A car that could ruin my finances in a single shift. Well I took the plunge over a year ago and its been great!

I just came back from a short drive and I wish you could have been there with me. These cars are fantastic. They make you feel special....you will have a peacefull easy feeling every time you look in that garage. Its your turn!

P.S. Dont forget a Pre Purchase Inspection from a qualified Ferrari mechanic.

I am totally with you Rammer!

I pulled the trigger on a 1986 328 GTS in red/tan, and now I am thinking "why did I hesitate all these years?"

And while it is certainly good to read all threads here, about engine fires, disintegrating water pumps, and warm a/c, any newbie (like me) should be reminded that as long as you do your homework (PPI, research on the history of your car, service history), you're in for the ride of your life.

anyone who's sitting on the sidelines: go for it, life's too short to wait forever...

Good post Rammer...........I've owned a slew of Performance cars and nothing comes close to my F355 Spider, the car as a whole is amazing.
The looks from bohemian type women in Subaru wagons is a true testament to the Ferrari mystique..........the feeling and weight of the controls, the classic Ferrari chrome shifter and gate, the Connolly leather, and the F1 style wail when the 3.5 liter 5 valve V-8 climbs from 6000 rpm to 8500 rpm.
All of these things come together on a daily basis and make me look forward to every single drive, to anyone sitting on the fence..........sit no more and get yourself one as soon as possible!

Thank you Rammer. You have really inspired me to continue pursuing my goal of a 308 or 328. I am very close and just today, I was having second thoughts. Just the concern of maintenance cost. But not to the point of not purchasing my dream car. I'm sure just planning that everyone has gone through.

Your f-car is wonderful. I look forward to posting my pics and comments about my first drive.

I still remember your thread reguarding your first purchase of the burgundy 308 GTS. It was a great thread that was very inspirational! I love these cars and I plan on having a lot more of them during my short time here on Earth.

I felt the same way one year ago (1500 miles).
Well , my experience has been great, no probs after replacing the fuseblocks, relays and fan temp sensor during the first 2 months of ownership. I took the first two months and sorted everything before driving it regularly. Without FChat though, I would have been afraid to touch it, or drive it. Fchat gave me the confidence to drive and enjoy it, knowing that IF I ever had a problem the solution was here. These cars are automotive art and should be displayed on the public roads for all to enjoy.

I bought a project 308 first, which I think after two years has become a parts car. I bought a parts car 308 second, which has canibalised so many parts off the first car to reverse thier roles. I have come into the house with dirt up to my eyeballs, and ruined clothes, so many times that I can not count. There is no part now of a 308 that I have not handled with intamacy more than once. Some alot more. And I would not trade this experience for the world. Its been worth every wrecked shirt, every scraped knuckle, every stripped thread.

When I first went online on the internet 10 years ago, it wasnt long before I found the F-list and people like ROlindsay, Tom Reynolds, Doc Fung, Ric Rainbolt, etc., good people one and all and many more it would take volumes to include. But Toms stories of his lil GT/4 he named "dino" were the greatest ones that gave me the enthusiasm. I actually just was overcome tonight, and went and sat in my car in the garage for a lil while. All these years and all this work, and it still makes me pause. I own a Ferrari and it is MINE! The worst thing anyone could ever do working on thier car is bend a gagle of valves changing a timing belt. There are worse things in life you could do than bend a bunch of Ferrari valves, trust me. Upshift from third into second at redline and you'll find out.

Thanks for all your good words Paul. Yes, almost ten years ago I was thinking for the first time, "Wow! I'm driving a FERRARI! Wait! I'm driving MY FERRARI!!!" The feeling is beyond words - and I still get that buzz today.

Pretty much all of those early friends still stay in touch. Ric Rainbolt and I are probably the closest. We've done track events together, rebuilt TR engines together, done Grand Prixs together - even our wives get along. :) Rui Gigante in Portugal visit one another every year or so. We just got back from there about a month ago. Great visit with great people. My son studies physics at New Mexico Tech where Ferrari List founder Steve Cook graduated. Steve welcomed us to New Mexico when Allen was considering that school. Charles Perry and his dad from South Carolina spent a week with us in Italy and France. The Poertners from St. Louis and a group of eastern seaboard friends a mile long have done track events as well as social functions together. Antony Shine, Francis Newman, et al. in the UK went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with Rui and I. When we talk all misty-eyed about the good old days of the Ferrar List, it is these people we're talking about.

LOL Also to me. I was 48 hours away from my Ferrari (notice I still say MY), and missed it. Afterwards, I bought another car and have decided to wait.

    But as another FChatter said........

Must have been directed by me. Even the last post, cause I'm driving the PCar as you call it a while now ;-)
I think its time to call the seller of that black 308 once again. Lets see if its gone. That would be a sign to wait (as this was a sign not to).
