For 20 years my spyder has been winter stored top up. Summers it's stored top down. I've wondered if lowered storage might crease the canvas or rear window. But, 20 years on, all still looks sharp - so I keep doing it. Recently I've been advised that extended lowered storage stresses and potentially damages hydraulic and frame mechanisms. Is this true?

You have 20 years experience. I have done the same for 7. How many years experience does your "adviser" have?

I cannot imagine in any way how storing down would be a negative on the hydraulics or structure. I could make a case for issues with the fabric or window but if in 20 years there is nothing there that displeases you keep doing it.
