I was at a race shop and they had a great tire rack system. I asked where they bought it expecting some custom fab job. Turns out they were just a heavy duty shelving system from Home Depot. Only $120 for one cabinet. They have something like a 5,000+ lb. capacity. No screws or major installation, bars lock into place. You can put the wood shelves or leave them off and tires fit perfectly into them upright. They are a sort of military grey, you should still be able to find them at any Home Depot.

Neat idea. I have several of those exact racks, but i use them with the shelves to store tools and parts.
BTW, what width and offset RPF1's are you using on the race car?

Good question, I'll have to find out. Wheels are 18 by 8, offset is either 35 or 45, I think 45.

bought one today but the length is different. They have two dept sizes. I bought the wrong one. But at that the rack they sell is barely good for 4 tires. Did you have to special order this one?

I think there is a 36" wide, and a beefier 48" one. You should also be able to fit 3 levels on there, with enough height to accss the tires.

The shelves that Rob is talking about are called "Gorilla shelves" and they are at most Home Depots. Be careful, however, because they stock another brand that looks very similiar but it is not the same shelf! If the4 store does not have them, you can order them from the HD catalog.

If you wrap them in opaque plastic bags, keep them cool (not cold, just not hot), keep them away from the ozone generated by electric motors and some other forms of illumination, they can be stored from season to season without much degradation.
