This is interesting - perhaps hopes for some new "guns" . . . Scott Speed and Vitantonio Liuzzi look likely to have to wait until after the new year to see if Scuderia Toro Rosso will retain them next season. The team's plans for next season have been the subject of intense speculation since they revealed that they were testing Champ Car Champion Sebastien Bourdais this week. And although Bourdais has insisted that he will see out his contract with Newman-Haas in America next year, his consistent speed at Jerez has shown what he is capable of in F1. Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost has said that no decision has been taken about drivers - and claimed that the situation was still wide open. "The driver line-up will be decided by (team owners) Dietrich Mateschitz and Gerhard Berger, and I assume it will be in the new year," Tost said. "We will test drivers until then and we will see where we are. The driver choice is still very open and by that I mean both seats." Tost has confirmed, however, that contracts are already in place with Liuzzi and Speed for next season although that does not necessarily mean they will definitely race for Toro Rosso. "We have contracts with them," he said. "Things will be decided at the end of the year."
I'm not sure Honda would allow Marco to drive for STR. Besides, It's a bit early for Marco I think, let him do another year or two in Indy with more winter testing with Honda. He could then replace Rubens in 08-09. Also, who would STR bring for next year? I think if they were going to go with other drivers they would have had them testing already. Seabass is supposedly committed to Newman/Haas next year, so I think they'll go with Liuzzi and Speed.
