Somehow I think both Sebastians are destroying their F1 careers buy going with STR. We'll just have to wait and see.

    http://www.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/070807164334.shtml
"Toro Rosso will officially complete its 2008 driver line-up on Wednesday, according to a specialist report on Tuesday.

Multiple Champ Car title winner Sebastien Bourdais has now reached a deal with the Faenza based team to replace Tonio Liuzzi from 2008, the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell claimed.

28-year-old Bourdais will join the already-confirmed German rookie Sebastian Vettel in the team, and plans to relocate from Florida to Europe with his wife Claire and their baby daughter Emma.

The publication reported that Bourdais was tying up loose ends with his American employer Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing so that an official announcement could theoretically be made on Wednesday."

Although I don't think much of STR in general, this may not be a bad move if Adrian Newey and Geoff Willis settle down RBR and it filters through to STR. However, I think Liuzzi and Speed were fine, it was more the team and the cars.

    The opportunity is there.
    Take it.
Waiting for another team to pick him up is wishing on a star.
    A bird in the hand....

Yet still just another whipping boy for STR's non-competitive car when Red Bull wants to know why the poor results.

Glad to hear that Sebastian can take a step forward to the pinnacle of motor sports, although it's with a bad team.

Hopefully Bourdais uses STR as a stepping stone and jumps to another team in '09.

STR will not get any better. More than 1 season with Berger and his friends would be a waste of time and certainly destroy his career.

If things go well for him at STR, he might get in with Flavio at La Regie, but no better than that. Anyone betting he'll outqualify Vettel throughout the year? Not me, but I do think he'll score more points. Or THE point.

Minardi was a launch team for young drivers. STR is the kiss of death: Avoid!!!

There are a couple of teams that seem to be more exit points than entry teams: Toyota was another -- and might still be.

Here is what Liuzzi says today about losing the seat:

Asked by the Italian website f1grandprix.it if the Motorsport Aktuell report was true, Liuzzi said: "I don't know. Anyway, I knew this possibility and I'm negotiating with other teams, so it's not a big change for me."

Liuzzi said it was 'quite clear' even before the start of the season that both he and Speed had fallen out of favour with team bosses Franz Tost and Gerhard Berger.

He added: "That's why I decided to look elsewhere and Scott did the same. Now we are at this point.

"The atmosphere inside the team wasn't the best one, because many times the drivers were accused unfairly to hide the problems of the car.
    "

Liuzzi, who turned 25 on Monday, would not reveal the identity of his alternate employers but f1grandprix.it said Williams was one possibility.

It is also believed that Sir Frank Williams' Toyota-powered outfit is strongly pursuing Renault test driver Nelson Piquet Jr as a potential new team-mate for Nico Rosberg next year.

Liuzzi, meanwhile, dismissed German 20-year-old Vettel's debut alongside him at Toro Rosso in Hungary as "nothing special".

Referring to his bosses, he added: "Maybe they thought they will put him in the car and he would be half a second faster than me.

"Instead it was quite clear it was the contrary."

+1 Berger has turned into a jerk, i.e. showing his incompetence. This proves one more time that most good F1 race drivers don't make good team managers/owners.

${Diety} forbid Schumi should ever return as a team manager.

Any driver that couldn't out-perform Schumi's ego would be in trouble. ;)

I personally liked the idea somewhat alluded to on Formula1.com that the winner between Doornbos and Bourdais in Champ Car would get the seat at TR. But the more I read, the more I hate TR.

Well, Bourdais doesn't have an F1 career is he doesn't go to STR.

I believe he is a very talented driver, and he will do well. I hope he does well enough to get noticed by a real team, and they sign him up. STR is just a stepping-stone team. The least amount of time he would have to spend there, the better.

    I am rooting for Bourdais.

It is done, Bourdais is confirmed according to autosport.com (so it must be true). That leaves Liuzzi without a seat and something tells me we won´t see him back in Formula 1.

All Bourdais has to do is outdrive the car's capabilities and his team mate, and he'll get a look from a higher team.

I am going to go out on a limb and predict we will one day see him driving a Renault.
