Hi, do any owners have a coolant overflow from under the front of the car after a long spirited drive? I was told this is normal. Its not a lot but maybe a couple of ounces.

I was going to add some coolant but only have BMW coolant and was wondering, before mixing, does it really matter?? Should I seek out the oem Shell coolant even if just adding enough to refill expansion tank?
    thanks

Typically occurs when the condenser is on.

John, I don't believe it's coolant. It's just water. It also occurs after you wash your car or run the heater too.

Correct, water or condensation. With the A/C or automatic function switched on, (cold or hot air) the condenser is activated and will produce condensation.

John, are you sure it's coolant? Probably should have asked you that first. If so, haven't experienced this. There's always the possibility that you have a leak or your expansion tank was overfilled. Level should be approx. 1.5" from the top of the filler neck but I'm sure you already checked all this.

If it's water from the A/C, it's normal.

If it's coolant, then get the car checked ASAP. It should NOT leak coolant in the front of the car. The overflow for the coolant is in the back, on the cap in the engine compartment. It comes from the cap, out the tube. Check the overflow tube.

thanks all for the input. I thought it was a bit heavier than straight water but its definiteley from the front so it must be condensation. I am going on a long drive this afternoon and will moniter the coolant level to be sure.
Damn I love drivin the cs!
