Hello, I'm looking for some advice with regard to pricing for a 360CS. The car seems very clean, below 2,500 miles, never tracked, has factory extinguisher, radio and has the factory stripe. The car is due for a service by Q2 of 2010. What is a fair offer price (range) for such an example? Thanks all in advance for your feedback and assistance. T.
At 2,500 miles, the car has been sitting most of the time and that's a liability in my view for a Stradale. Also, owner may not have gotten belts done since mileage is so low, so you'd have to factor that in. Shame its never been tracked; like keeping a stallion in a barn for 6 years.
If it has complete service and ownership history then it should be north of $150k...you have to remember that there probably less than 20-30 CSs in US that would fit such a profile..and how many of those ever become available for sale?...
$135-$160 sounds really good if you're a buyer, NOW, try to find a seller that will let a car like that go for that price. Most likely you will have to pay more than that, unless seller really needs the cash or there is a story with the car. Today, Nice low mile cars, with factory stripe and the right color combo, no stories will be north of $175+. IMO
cld be. i just looked for about 3 months. I had a choice of multiple clean low mile examples in the 130s and 140. In the end i paid $145 for cream puff 4,000 mile car with a recent major and only thing it doesnt have is the stripe. If somoene is willing to pay $30,000 for a sticker, god bless them.
Without full disclosure and physically examining the cars in question its difficult to comment on price discrepancy. However, a no stories CS with under 2500 mi, all options and factory stripe is at the top of the food chain and will certainly command a premium.
+1. As time goes on the "low mileage no story" cars because more and more rare. I'd also say $175k give or take for an example like this.
Probably the minority view in the 360/430 forum, but IMHO I don't see the value in an ultra-low mile 360 CS for (handmade, classic and rare) 512 BBi money, especially with much improved F430s coming available in the lower $100K range. If you're going to drive it and you need the incremental performance of the CS over the Modena, or you like the stripe, save some money and get one where the odometer isn't the prime determinant of value and where the car has been exercised. If you're not going to drive it and are concerned about value, get an investment quality car like a nice 512 BBi or 246 GTS. (If money doesn't matter, please disregard...) </moment of sanity>
This is always the rational thought when one considers buying a Ferrari like this. But how many actually follow through with such sage advice? I can attest to the fact that all rational and sanity goes out the window when one gets fixated on a particular car. The good thing, for me anyway, is that the economy has returned some semblance of rational/sanity to my automobile fetish.
I suppose "irrational exuberance" is the best way to describe my desire to purchase a CS. In many ways my 430spider can match and/or exceed the performance of a CS.. as can the P. Turbo. I just find it aesthetically beautiful.. like a work of art. If I could Id move all my furniture into the garage and move the car into the living room.. sadly that's not possible. I don't think Id ever track it (which is a shame as that is its primary purpose).. But id definitely put a few miles on it..
Interesting comments however, I don't believe they're applicable to the OP's question, "What is a fair offer price (range) for such an example"?
LFSC started their yellow 2k Stradale at 169k. Now they have increased the price to 185K and it still sits there... CH
Interesting. Does this strategy actually work? I've seen it applied to cars, boats, planes, homes, etc. but always wondered what is the rationale. It's one thing for a seller to increase their asking price shortly after the original listing thinking/knowing they're leaving money on the table, but to raise the price after weeks or months of no action is odd to me.
This CS has been on the market FOREVER, like 5 months, at the same price. Low mileage, seems to be in great condition, has the stripe, idk if any of yall can shed some light. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-FERRARI-360-CHALLENGE-STRADALE-YELLOW-STUNNING_W0QQitemZ220517776364QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3357e23bec Thanks
That CS has been for sale since last December. See this thread. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=263530
Maybe they read what I said about West Coast cars with three times the mileage that had a higher asking price. Price adjusted accordingly with a little wiggle room built in. Do you recall what ever happened to 2k mile (Scuderia?) red Stradale for sale at the Ferrari dealer in the Northwest some time ago? Asking price was something like 212K. CH
