Does anyone have experience with fitting Challenge Wheels w/ Slick Tires for a Stradale? I have a 04 Stradale, but I want to use Slicks for tracking purposes? However, the 19 inch OEM wheels have absolutely no Slicks or other R compound sizes. I was thinking about the Challenge wheels. Any good suggestions, Thanks.
I have tried everything - the 18" wheels do not quite fit as they just touch the caliper. Tried several wheels - all the same, BUT your woes are over ! 19" slicks for the car will be available from january 2006 onwards (in Europe, at least) from Pirelli as these are the tyres for the 430 Challenge. Let me know if you need further info.
Please keep us posted on any updates you might hear about for us US Stradale guys! If no US importer, I'm sure we could all go in and get a pallete/crate of tires delivered! Thanks for the info!
They'll have to be since the 430 challenge cars use them. First '06 US challenge race in in April (homestead), so I'd guess Pirelli USA pretty much has them now...
Sorry to repeat, but does anyone know where I can get these tires, season is around the corner. Ferrari didn't have any answers at the Chicago auto show.
Bob Woodman in the Pirelli race tire distributor. He has a list of those who want the slicks. And of course I am on the list already. They are out of Canada. Phone is 843 571 2277. Should be available very soon, but of course they have to make sure they have enough for Homestead. In my opinion the Pirelli Rossa Corsa's are too soft for track day use. I am currently using the Continentals for track days. But they are probably too hard. Tread wear number is 280 if that tells you anything. Tread wear rating on the Pirelli is 60!!! If I can't get slicks soon I will try a set to the Michelin PS2 which just came out in our size. Treadwear as I recall is 180. Tirerack.com Hope that helps.
