They are an internet dealer located in Dallas and don't have a showroom or allow walk-ins. I think this is a great example of a professional organization that is selling for this next century, not the past one. Without a showroom, internet only listings, and a business model that is about quality luxury cars at a don't waste anyone's time price. No extra showroom or salesman costs have to be added. There are times when we don't know exactly what we want so we do some tire kicking and try out several cars in a showroom environment. However, many more times we know exactly what we want and are browsing accross the nation and even worldwide to get the best car at the best price point. I think Straight Line AG has this figured out.

Jennie, Mia, and I would like to thank Straight Line for the opportunity to see their facility. It is a huge warehouse wall to wall with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, Mercedes, Aston Martins, and etc. When browsing their selection they typical offer 20-30 pictures of each car and a good write-up. There is not much reason to waste a salesman’s time unless you are REALLY interested. At that point you can call in and ready to purchase they will even pick you up from DFW airport to check out the car in person and do a PPI (I recommend Norwoods or Lamborghini of Dallas in this area, I don't believe Boardwalk Ferrari does PPI's).

Anyway, this thread is half plugging them for giving Jennie, Mia, and I a tour, but more just a "duh, why didn't I think of this great idea!". They are one of the top 20 dealers on Autotrader which is saying much because most of the cars they are selling fall into the 6 digit range. Please don't waste their time with emails, calls, or even a visit unless you are serious about a car. Worth taking a look at their inventory online.

Rob, that is a very kind and classy post ( which is indicative of the kind of guy you are). I was there last weekend also. Unbelievable inventory. I am in the market for something new and plan on purchasing from them soon as my wife releases the handcuffs. My experinces ( walking through the warehouse once a week for the last month or so) has been very low pressure. I have been dealing with Dale and I have shown up several times without an appointment and there has been no problem.Their inventory changes literally daily.

Yeah they may have a nice selection and all, but a friend of mine tried to buy a car and they waited until the last second to announce it was a lemon law buyback. After a little research we found that many of their cars had been sourced at auction as manufacturer buy backs. Yeah some business model......

I think they make it perfectly clear and don't hide some of their cars come from auction. Many more of their cars come from dealers on trade-in. They will tell you everything they know about the car and you are allowed to inspect and PPI it. They did tell you it was a lemon law buyback which many dealers wouldn't, maybe they should have or if they would have known, would have told you earlier.

They had to by law disclose that the car was a buy back.Of course they knew when they bought the car, the freakin title was branded . They waited until we were at the bank trying to get a draft to announce that the car couldn't be financed due to the title status. Maybe you're hoping to lure a new sponser, just be prepared for the masses to air whatever dirty laundry these guys may have.

This is perhaps the most hotly debated business model in the used car bidness, particularly with high-end cars. Your old school pimps continue to insist that buyers will not buy off the Internet. Your punk pimps point to (1) ever increasing sales on Ebay, and (2) reducing overhead to almost nothing.

Personally, I think it depends on how much confidence the seller inspires. That is, if an Internet seller consistently sells good products at a discounted price, sooner or later, the market will come to him. This includes high-line cars like Ferraris.

But, but... if they burn someone right out of the gate, they're toast. In other words, a successful Internet dealer will probably not be able to get away with the same fun and games as a sticks and bricks guy.

I don't doubt your experience and it seems like a bad one, SL is welcome to offer their side of the story. A few of us local to Texas have bought several cars from them with great reviews...

When dealing in high volume there's bound to be a bad situation that comes up once in a while. It's just averages.

Count me in as another happy local who has purchased from them. Given their huge inventory, they are one of my first stops whenever I am in the market for another high-end ride.

I went out there last fall to look at a 456. Clean orderly place, sales guys very polite, helpful, and no-pressure. Didn't buy that car but would go back.

The owner sent his side of the story by email, they have in past and still deal in some Lemmon Law cars. However, those cars do indicate in the description they are Lemmon Law, that is required. Another point is SL has a 100% positive eBay rating, which is quite amazing for a high volume dealer that has been around many years.

I was interested in a 360 spyder they had a a great price. I asked the salesman why it seemed so low and he honestly said it need a 30k service with belts and a transmission hose replacement. He said that if I was interested they could work out an arrangement with a respected shop and have it performed before the sale. They were honest and forthcoming with me.

I visited straightline a few weeks ago and they do have an impressive inventory. They deal in high volume and low margin. They were very helpful and the experience was very good. Know what you are doing and get a PPI, because they are moving cars, not trying to provide cherries at rock bottom prices.

I bought from them a number of years ago and had no issues. I would probably buy from them again.

Stand-up organization. Have purchased a car here in the past & recommended others to them. Great business model, great people, & fantastic inventory.

I bought a 2004 575 Maranello 6 Speed Manual from them last year and I sent them a referral and he ended buying a 612. We both had a good experience with Jon at Straight Line. I would use them again if they had the car I was looking for.

STAY AWAY FROM STRAIGHT LINE. I had a nightmare dealing with them. Misrepresentations and Multiple issues with the car, including an inoperable odometer (so that mileage could not be accurate).
They kept the car 7 weeks trying to fix it. They kept the title 6 weeks before sending it.
The car was not accurately described.
    Horrendous communication.
I ended up sending the car back, losing several thousand dollars (shipping fees, negotiated restocking fee) but it was cheaper than trying to sort out this car. (Yes, I had a PPI done, as well, but the odometer was not caught).
Once returned, I am still having a nightmare getting my refund of $45,000.
Don't let them sell to you off of ebay, either, as you lose your protections. They pulled the ad once we had a verbal deal and I have no ebay protection.
My advice: STAY AWAY from them. Anyone wanting more details about my experience can contact me.
    Rob
