That was very awesome. Thanks for posting. Who did your pipes ? Are you running a valved muffler or muffler deletes ? I just ordered an “H” pipe and the stock deletes from Fiammenghi Engineering. I hope it sounds like that !
I have x pipes (fabspeed) and the tubi muffler deletes. It’s not particularly loud. Was debating cat deletes but was worried it’ll be too loud.
That is my car in the video. It has Fiam menghi race headers, catless collectors, connectors, and straight H-pipes, stock s-pipes, and Tubi Competition Style straight-thru mufflers. I am not a huge fan of the Tubis as they are a little raspy for my taste, but I am still absolutely loving the unmistakable scream of a V12 with equal length headers. My goal is to have a similar sound to a 599 GTO or F12 with an aftermarket valved muffler.
I have Fabio's full system including mufflers. Personally think his mufflers sound better than the Tubis. But sounds great regardless. I should make a video of mine doing a similar run!
Just love that sound, brings me back to my youth. I have a thread with your video in the racing section as I want to improve my 812's exhaust note. All the modded 812 exhausts have too high a pitch for my taste. I like the lower more throaty 60s/70s era sound your exhaust has. Which modification is best to lower the pitch and not pop a light or void my warranty? X pipes and no mufflers?
Frank- We are all trying to get a higher pitched sound and you want the opposite. Want to trade your 812 for my 575M? Mine sounds great with factory HGTC, but not high pitched enough yet. Still need Fabio's 6-1 headers, which your 812 already has.
100% agreed, I am not a big fan of the Tubis. Yes, I'd love to hear your 575! X-pipes and maybe a valved muffler, though experimenting with X-pipes first would be a good idea. I've definitely noticed a big difference on past vehicles going to an X-pipe where the sound is "fuller", and lower pitched.
Fabio makes an “H pipe” that has cross-flow to replace the resonator. Evidently he tested 3 versions X, Straight Pipes and H Pipe. Those F.E. headers are beautiful.
Yeah on the 550 I recommend Fabio's H-pipes to seek the highest possible frequency (it's like hearing two dueling inline 6's vs. mixing all 12 together). But an X-pipe on an 812S would sound monstrous!
Like I said before, all you young guys are deaf. I flew fighters for 20 years and I bet my hearing is better.
If you had flown supersonic, your hearing today would be better still. Image Unavailable, Please Login
F-111 approach speed 130 KCAS + fuel weight in thousands of pounds. 34,200 lbs of JP8 at start. Normal rotation speed on take-off 157 KCAS at 80,000 lbs GW.
Volume does not change, just the mixing of the exhaust pulses so extraction is compromised, but sound is better to some owners.
