Strange ballast-weight on 98 Challenge

    In the front trunk of my 98 Challenge is a big weight fitted as shown on the picture. Did all Challenge cars have those or might it have been fitted later on by one of the previous owners? The car ran huge wings front/rear over the last few years so I guess it might be because of those.

    What do you think?

    I may be wrong but that location is where the original CH cars had the battery...the weight was moved there for more neutral balance

    Also depending on the class the car was raced in may have been under weight if the car was stripped for weight savings and the front was a desirable place to add it
