Got a really weird problem with the full beam lights on a 99 360 - recently while driving the full beam lights illuminated as if they had been turned on, despite the stalk being in the regular lights on position.

Nothing I could do would turn them off. I could basically have all lights on or all lights off.

Then the next time I drive the car they are back to normal, I check the lights and see that one of the full beams is blown. Change the bulb and it still won’t illuminate.

Turns out a 7.5a mini fuse has blown, replaced this and the light came back on and everything was working normally.

Drive the car again and the same thing has happened although no bulb has blown and the lights seem to reset when the car is turned off for a while, then suddenly while driving it just illuminates the full beams.

Anyone got any idea what on Earth is going on?!

I recently had a new radiator fitted on that side so the area under the light was dismantled and the bumper removed etc but I can’t see any issues behind the lights.

It sounds like the high beam flasher function of the stalk switch (normally you have to pull the lever back towards you to get the light to flash on) is malfunctioning. Or the wire for it may be shorting out.
The relay that sends power to the high beams will be energized if this happens. You could try removing the relay to see if the lights go out and the relay clicks off. If so, the next step would be to see if the relay is malfunctioning or if it is being energized by a faulty switch or wiring.

Thanks, i will try to have a look at this aspect - I was focusing more around the light unit itself. Don't suppose you know where the relay is / which one it would be? Cant seem to find a breakdown of whats what in the manual.
