When firing up the golden one after some months of restauration, I notice a metallic sound coming from the side of the belts in the engine bay. I took a video and when the camera gets closer to the belts, the sounds gets clearer. I assume this might have something to do with the AC belt as the frequency does not change when revving up. Maybe some of you guys immediately know what this sound is ... video:
Not a good sound at all. I was hoping it would be metallic "snap snap snap" which drove me wild - it was a cold belt. This sounds like continuous grinding to me. Be careful until you find out. Best wishes, j Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Take the wheel arch liner out and get a stethoscope on it. Don't rev the motor just run it. However to be honest it it were me I'd have the belt covers off and the pump belts off to check for play before I even ran the engine again.... Regards Bell
I'll have my Ferrari repair shop check out that sound and solve the issue after I'm done with everything I still need to do.
my first thought is the AC Compressor. The noise increases as you move the camera closer to the compressor. My AC compressor makes a horrible racket between 3K and 4K RPM - when the AC is turned on. I'm going to replace it, as it leaks anyway, just havent gotten around to it as we are trying to sell our house. Sid
