Judging by early, period photographs, Enzo's glasses frames were thin - not THICK, like the nu-jack 'fad' style of sunglasses today. It is also possible that he had more than one pair - he certainly had more than one watch....

I'd always assumed they were Rayban Wayfarers..those have been around a long time...interesting discussion.

Here's an update....since I brought up the Persol connection I've been paying more attention to Enzo's sunglasses when I see a photo of him. So far, I haven't seen any Persols because the traditional "sprears" are not on the glasses. So, unless anybody has a picture of him wearing sunglasses with the Persol spears on the frames I think the great mystery of Enzo's preference in shades lives on......

There's a metallic highlight at that location in photo above, but the ones from eBay are not correct, unless we can find a photo of him with the thicker ear pieces.....look at these.

A little thicker, but not as 'big' as those from eBay.........

Those could be Persols in the picture, but it isn't clear enough to be sure.

Not all Persols have spears on the temple. Mine are 3 years old, and look a LOT like Enzo's glasses in some of the photos showing thinner frames. Rectangular black frames, very dark lenses, and only two thin vertical metal strips on the temples (this is the spring mechanism). Not sure the model number, but the numbers on the side reads 2802-S 95/58 53D17 140. These are currently out of production, but probably still can be found somewhere. Could be, or could not be, the same as Il Commentadore wore, but I sure bought them because they reminded me of his specs.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just recently went to the museum of Enzo Ferrari's house in Modena, Italy and they had one of his pairs of sunglasses there and they were indeed Persol, though I don't remember seeing a model number or anything
