    Hi all,

Today I went to have a ride in the mountains with the 355. Everyhing was fine until suddendly it developed a strange noise that I coul hear from inside the car. Inside the car it sounds like ffsshhhh sound but from the outside it looks more like a rattle. Luckily I was recording so I got everything on video. Just edited this clip with the moments where the noise is audible. Could it be that my exhaust headers are gone? The car is a 2.7 Mo 355 gts with tubi exhaust, test pipes and degutted secondary cats. It has almost 29K miles.

At idle I can barely hear nothing the noise is noticeable at about 6000k rpm.

    Here´s the vid

Nice Video! Doesn't sound like a header problem, just sounds like something is loose. Thats why it only does it at high RPM. I'll bet if you get in the engine bay and start tightening things down, you will find it. good luck!

Just watched the complete video and the rattle is constant, gets louder as rpms increase. I don´t know if the bypass rattle sounds like this. I´ve checked it and apparently the valve is ok... here´s the complete video

I had the same noise, there is an air tube that developed a hole by touching a hot part of the engine. take a look at the picture location.

No, there are no check lights. Just checked the air injection metal pipes and everything is fine. Also checked the flywheel through the lower check plate and there is grease in there. When I bought the car there was gearbox and clutch fluid leaking, don´t know how long it had been in that situation.

I put hill engineering thrust bearing and change the triple seals. Watching the video again and again it looks like its some kind of metal rattling or bearing. As the flywheel is leaking grease for sure I´m going to repack it, already ordered the kluber grease, the front flywheel bearing (14 euros vs ferraris 80 euros) and as soon as I get the reference for the back one ill order it.

Problem is I have almost no time to work on the car and its cold in the garage so this will take a little long...

Now, what nutring should I buy for the flywheel ring??? How much is its diameter??

Mine had a rattle like that, it was the heatshield on the Y pipe that needed to be tacked down. That solved it for a couple years, then this year it came back and it was a baffle inside the muffler, so I replaced the muffler.

Should be easy enough to find, and diagnose.

Fixed it today that I had some time to work on it. It was just a loose bolt. My goodness! I still can´t believe that a single bolt could make a louder noise than the engine and we´re talking about a 355 with tubi exhaust, test pipes and k&n filters!!!

No, there was no air getting in. It was just a bolt holding the exhaust that was loose.
