It is well known that this car is a very discussed car, and 99% is a replica or a recreation, call it like you prefer.

The problem is that the two expertise reports (attached) say the opposite.

The first one states that the matching numbers of chassis and engine don't appear counterfeit so the car must be considered genuine. The value is estimated (year 2012) in 800K Euros while the value of the car ( at year 2002 ) is to be considered 700K.

The second one, made by a well known expert as Sergio Puttini is said to be, estimate the car at about 2.5/2.8 millions of Euro, because it has a very appreciable racing pedigree and it is one of the few exemplars still surviving...

Only the ASI / FIVA fiche speaks about a change of the bodywork, so at least we know that the body is not original...

Fortunately, the Court considered congruous the lower value of 800K Euros.

All this is extremely serious, are we facing a judicial auction ( of a court of the Italian Repubblic) or a legalized scam ??

    Ciao

    Andrea

The word from Maranello is that there will be a massive campaign to target "replica" Ferrari products which will be undertaken by the new management in 2015. Shredding replicas passed off as real cars, or "copy-cars" built on other manufacturers chassis and even "historic" cars that are pretenders, will be subject to copyright use of the logo, trademark and patent rights, and they will be selectively prosecuted to get the message across. The use of the word "Ferrari" where it’s used to add creditability, enhance business to a service or product will also be targeted by the new management.

The new management, whom has replaced much of the inner workings of Ferrari will take the Brand seriously and clean up those who ride the high road on the Ferrari name logo and the creditability of cashing in on the name. Companies changing the design of an existing original car for promotion of their own car-companies or Coach works will be called in. Even those with permission to use the name will be reviewed, as it seems the use of the name associated with something outside the control of the Maranello Company is deemed a liability of Ferrari Spa, and as such Ferrari wants to close those gaps in the use of their trade name.

Maranello is said to have reviewed past policies on the authorized use of the trade name which will be restricted when the name is used to solicit anything Ferrari deemed conversely involving the marque. That's coming directly from top management at Ferrari. In addition, the use of the Ferrari logo on a heavily changed and modified original car for commercial gain or business will not be tolerated and that door will close for many "designers" operating without a license and approval from Ferrari Spa. They said, "Maintaining the brand is part of the new skid marks on putting the brakes on people profiting from the Ferrari Brand without authorization".

What I have is the original 0276MM was a P.F,Berlinetta and in mid 1953 was rebodied by Morelli as a barchetta for Piotti. In the winter of 1954/5 Scaglietti may have modified the body with a headrest and a 500MD type front and the sn was changed to 0330MM in 1955 by SEFAC[?]The original P F Berlinetta was lost and the Morelli body is on sn 0102.Later the car came to America and Jackson Brooks in his book states when he got 0330MM he sanded down the chassis and found the sn 0276MM.According to Brooks he sold 330MM with engine 0390MM to Peter Giddings who also owned 0390MM. Later Giddings sold chassis 0330[0276MM?]MM to Rudy Pas in Holland who rebodied it with what appears to be the replica Vignale three port hole body.In October 1988 this appears to be the car for sale in FML by Prancing Horse Farm in Modena listing it as 0276MM.If this is correct then this car that went on to Art Valdez was originally 0276MM Confused. So am I.Help tongascrew

Your description sounds like the 250 MM Vignale Spider which was sold out of Tokyo, Japan not too long ago.

    Why replica?
    Why not rebodie?

The expert who conducted the examination was Dr. Pinetti and is one of the best experts of historic cars in Italy. The history of the car is very complicated, but he says that the car is original after several months of study.

Ultimately, this car might have to do with these stories in Cremona?

Terra, pay attention to the rules. If you have a personal question to ask, then please send it in a private message or email instead of playing games with me on a public Bulletin Board.

History tells us 0276MM was merged with 0330MM.
