A couple of days ago the local Ferrari dealer hosted a track day. There were 3 458's in attendance, a 2011, my 2013 and a brand new 2014 Spyder. During my first pit stop after having completed numerous hard laps, I noticed that the windshield wiper fluid had spilled out of the reservoir (from under the hood in the front of the car) and managed to cover the hood in a white foamy mess. I checked with the other 458 owners and they all had the same problem, even the brand new Spyder. This continued to happen the entire day while pushing it hard on the track. I actually have some footage of the fluid spraying on to my windshield coming from under the hood. I wish I had taken some pictures to post but didn't think of it at the time. I should add we all checked our reservoir caps and they were still on and had not come loose. There is a small hole on the top of the cap which is apparently for overflow and this is where the fluid must have leaked from.

Has anyone else had a similar experience either on the track or otherwise, and any ideas what may have caused this and how to prevent it. You would think Ferrari would have caught this while testing the car on the track. Since all 3 458's experienced the same problem this appears to be an inherent defect with the car.

Despite the problem having the 458 on the track was a blast. I can't wait to do it again.

Nope. On both Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway never saw this on a 2012 Spider.

I have done many track days in my 458 and never saw it BUT I did have a problem with loss of fluid off the track due to the hose falling off the tank.

Maybe your hard track use shook the hose off. You should check it.

Yes it only happens when they fill the reservoir tok high. Just spray some of the fluid out and it will stop.

That happens to C5 Z06 corvettes. We call those tears of joy. Joy that the car is being used as intended.

That is a vent hole. Without a vent hole it will not spray. Just a poor design it should have a one way vent valve.
