I have a question that perhaps the administrators can answer. Why are discussions on the Lancia Stratos moved to "Other Italian" while those on the Fiat Dino retained in the 206/246 thread?

I'm not arguing one way or the other and am a fan of both cars, but thought I may be missing a nuance there. I rarely visit "Other Italian" and found it convenient to read threads about both cars in the 206/246 thread.

If the Stratos and the Fiat should be in "Other Italian," since they are not Ferraris (a position I am not advocating), what about the Dino (almost, but perhaps not quite, a Ferrari)?

If there is a vote to be taken, I vote for keeping the Stratos AND the Fiat Dino in the 206/246 section because the history between them all is so closely interrelated, and the 206/246 Dinos have more in common with them than we do with the 308gt4 Dinos (no offense to them . . . .).

Dino's belong in the 206/246 section they are NOT "Other Italian cars" they are Dino's. Dino's by name and motor.

The stratos is a "Other" but because of its awesome motor I vote it stays in 206/246 section. If you spread the cars all over the place on the forums then we will miss potentially good information. Dino powered cars belong here in one easy place to find and read.

I see the Other section as all the other Italian cars, I talked in there about my FIAT 124 and my FIAT Dino but I don't read it as often so I miss Dino's being talked about in the "Other" section.

I will take the position that Dinos, both Fiat and Ferrari, are of Ferrari origins and should be kept here. Since the Stratos is Ferrari powered and there is overlap in history and discussion between the Dino and the Stratos, it ,too, ought to be kept here as a matter of convenience and respect to heritage.

If the FIAT Dinos belong in 206/246, and I argue they do, so does the Strato's, no less deservedly.

I am biased toward the Stratos being in the 206/246 forum as well. The Dino 246 engine was developed to it's highest state with the racing Stratos and I think that is a point of interest to the Dino 246 owners which would get overlooked in the "Other Italian" section. I don't think the Dino forum will get overshadowed by the Stratos as there were so few to begin with.

I agree. There are many common issues, particularly with the Stratos, which shares not only the engine but also the gearbox with the 246. Previous discussions on fuel starvation when cornering, Stratos carburetors and manifolds on Dinos, etc., illustrate the relationship and relevance. The current query on timing chain tension on 24-valve Dino engines will be attractive to Dino afficianados - the 24-valve engine is rare, but it is part of Dino history.

And, yes, there are so few Stratos (and even fewer Stratos owners on Ferrari Chat) that the risk of oiverwhelming Dino discussions is small.

By the way, both the Dino and Stratos share "orphan" status. There is another term, but somewhat impolite. The debate on whether the Dino is a Ferrari will never be settled to everyone's satisfaction (I believe it is indeed a Ferrari, the most beautiful one at that). The Stratos, on the other hand, was built specially to win the world rallye championship, a homologation special that drew little or no genetic material from the Lancias that preceded it. It is a Lancia in name only. The Dino is a Ferrari except (officially) in name.

Let us integrate Stratos discussions into this forum please, if possible.

One often discussed detail: The 2400s were assembled in the Ferrari factory aside the 246s As for prowess in competition, the Stratos is without peer. M
