I'm needing to replace the rear tires on my 02 360 (OEM P Zeros are down to the wear bars), but can't decide what path to take. I'm not ruling out replacing only the rear Pirelli's with the OEM size (275/40-18), but I'm also considering going to wider Pzeros or a complete set of four new tires such as Bridgestone S02A's or Michelin Pilot Sport's. I switch wheels and tires for the track so these are for dry street use only (no rain). I hate to admit it, but I do care somewhat about ride quality and road noise. I also have Pzeros on my 355 so I'm lacking any personal experience with other brands.

I've performed searches but couldn't find anything in regards to street only use on the stock 18" wheels.

Any recommendations or comments will help.

    Thanks,

    Greg

When I replaced the tires on my 98 355 Spider last year, I went from Pzeros to Pilot Sports. I got Pilot Sport PS-2s -- 225 on front, 295 on rear. The PS-2s are considered to be significantly better than their predecessor, which are just called Pilot Sport. I was worried that ride quality might dimminish, and be possibly noisier with the PS-2s. But not so, and the grip was incredible -- but also related to increased width on rear.

When I replaced my 355 with 2004 360 Modena, it came with Pilot Sport tires, and I can't find any notation indicating they are PS-2s. So I presume they are the older, not top notch version. All I can say is they ride and grip fine and I presume a PS-2 would be even better. Not sure what width increase the stock rims can take on front and rear though. I understand 225 should remain on front, maybe up to 285 on rear.

Regarding Bridgestone Potenza tires, my understanding is that SO-3s are an update and better performing than SO-2s, so I put the SO-3s on my M5. Very happy with them.

Hope this is of some help. Cheers, Paul
