For those of you have driven the Streets of Willow -- what were your average lap times and in what car?

I've been twice with two different cars. Here are my "best" times for the full track, going onto the skidpad. My times were very close running clockwise and counter-clockwise. Keep in mind that both cars have around 200hp and both weigh about 2,500lbs. I also ran on 17 inch rims with no clue about tire pressure (I was just having fun, not pushing it). Both times were during the summer with track temps around 100-105 F. I have no clue how hot the track surface was. Have fun, it is a great track!!!

2003 Mazda Mazdaspeed Protege (on the new track with the banked turn): Best:1.46.xx Average: 1.48.xx

1993 Toyota MR2 (on the old track without the banked turn): Best: 1.43.xx Average: 1.45.xx

The first time that I went the "bowl" was not there. It was a small straight with two very off camber turns (tough!).

How does the 360 react to the ripples in the turn where the elevation is 2505? That turn kicks the crap outa my car and really unsettles it.

What about lap times without the bowl (for the course highlighted in red)?

I just want to establish realistic goals for this summer given my car and virtual lack of track experience...

Also, how fast are you guys going into the first turn?

I think they significantly widened that turn about 6 months ago...

jdb: No they did not. That turn is as crappy as ever (they do need to fix it). I'm not sure about the track config that you outlined because I have never driven it. Going up the hill I think that I'm going about 85-90 mph (in the Mazda, just a little quicker in the MR2). Going down the hill coming onto the skidpad I'm at around 110-115 mph (same as above). I'm not really paying attention to the Speedo though, so these readings could be off because I'm going by my Tach and the gear that I'm in (in regards to the mph at a certain rev range in a respective gear).

All I can say is have fun and be safe and let us know what track time you come up with.

I was at Streets this past Monday. The first time in about two years. The turn in question is wider than it was the last time I was there. It is still rough but smoother than before. If you late apex that turn (which you should anyway) the exit is smoother than an earlier apex.

If i knew how; i would post a lap from the Magneti Marelli acquisition data i have on my challenge . You can see the weels speed, lateral g force, throttle, rpm and a lot of other engine parameter

    That would be cool.

Are you sure that the track is wider there? I drove the track in 1998 and again in 2003 and it seemed the same to me. You are right about the apex.

I was there last weekend and was told it was changed within the last six months.

It was probably the same when you drove it in 2003 as it was when you drove it in 1998 unless you went in the last couple months of '03.
