77 308 GTB: Previous owner stripped both allen wrench gearbox drain bolts (underside and rear facing). Any suggestions for removal and who carries new ones? Thanks.

Traditional approaches are to (a) use a dremel tool to cut a slot for a flat-head screwdriver (especially easy if the allen bolt protrudes from, i.e. is not flush with, the surface. (b) Use an easy-out or bolt extractor (this is not without its caveats--you may break the easy out in the bolt and then you're really screwed). (c) If you can, use vice grips on any part of the allen bolt that protrudes. (d) Like (a) above, only use a small file on each side to file a slot. (e) Use a punch at an angle and a hammer to get ANY rotational force inside the allen bolt at all (only a portion of the force need be rotational).

Any of the Ferrari places has new ones, and they are actually quite reasonable. I think I paid all of $4 for a new gearbox drain plug from Dennis McCann a year ago. Mangle the old ones to your heart's content, just get them out without harming the threads in the engine.
