    Hello from Germany,

I hope I haven't missed the answer, but I think this question wasn't answered yet:

    the thread size is metric M 22 x 1.5

and this heatshield which must be removed before gaining access to the transmission filler plug is on my car too.
    ( 308 GTB, Euro, carbed, drysump )

    Best Regards

    Martin

That's the one! I mentioned it only because I hadn't seen any of the 308/328 gear-oil-change threads tell anyone to remove it before now.

Since I don't have a 308, it surprised me when I tried following the on-line steps to changing a 308's gear oil.

    Thanks Steven!

Now...here's the hard part...anyone have a P/N for the heat shield?

I'd like to return the car to original (as best I can) if possible.

    You guys rock!

P.S....come to think of it, I have seen at least two unused tapped holes. That's probably where the shield bolts to. After all of these years of wondering "What the hell are those two tapped holes for?"

I wonder if it's unobtanium? Verell?

I actually measured Steven's heat shield and made my own from sheet aluminum- seems fine so far.

I would check ferrari UK first for the real deal.

I've called ~4 places and either they didn't even have the P/N in thier database or they didn't have the part.

I'll probably have to pay someone to borrow thier heat shield so I can make my own and/or call Ferrari UK and check with them.

    Any donors?

    Appreciate everyone's help.

Superformance in the UK has such shields. Go to this page:

    http://www.superformance.co.uk/308/308exha.htm

Scroll down completely. No. 4072HS is that shield. Ferrari p/n 117252
It looks slightly different than that for the QV, but you might check with Mike from Superformance whether it fits.

    Best Regards from Germany

Martin...thanks so much for the link. I'm going to search for a few more days for the 118773 part and if I don't find it, I'll call Superformance and purchase the 117252 part and see if it fits.

I've misplaced my contact information for someone at Ferrari UK. I used to speak with Malcolm until he left. If Ferrari UK either doesn't have one or the price is $$$$, I'll go to Superformance.

    Thanks again.

Thanks Steven for the pic. That's helps get a better picture of what I'm looking for. Still searching...the Superformance part is the closest I've gotten. I need to call them to find out if the part will fit a QV.
