My Porsche mechanic friend is doing the first service (15k) on my 2002 360 Spyder, and said he has one screw that is stripped on the passenger side valve cover, and he cannot remove, it just spins. It’s been about 3 weeks that he has been trying to figure out how to remove it, cause he said it’s gonna leak if he doesn’t correct it.
Everything I’ve read says removing the engine is the only way to correct this issue. Before I give him the go ahead, can any of our more mechanically incline members recommend any other trick to try??

Do you have a picture- also item and part number so i can look where it is
Looking at the diagram, are you referring to the stud holding the cam box cover to the cylinder head.
From what i see there is a stud in the top of the head and the cam box cover fits on top of this and then a washer and dome head nut ??

I would find that hard to believe you half to pull whole engine to fix one stripped screw on a valve cover they are not that to excess IMHO.

I will go by the shop tomorrow and take a few photos, as I just got back from out of town. Thanks for the response, as I have always paid someone to work on my cars, but realize I need to at least become somewhat familiar with this one or I could be taken to the cleaners without even realizing it....

Tack weld a washer onto the head of the screw, then use a small slide hammer to pull it out. Once the valve cover is off, heli-coil the hole.

Would sure be easier than pulling the engine.
