I am looking at buying something a little farther south than my current home in St. Augustine and would like some input on people familiar with the areas above. I like the fact that it is just north enough of Palm Beach county so as not to be so congested yet seems to have some quite upscale areas.
    Thoughts?

I lived in Stuart for six months and I loved it. I would move back there in a heart beat if I could. Sewells point is a beautiful area. Excellent choice.

You get much more for your money there then anywhere else and you don't have the elitist snobbery of Palm Beach. Cost of living is also much less. The people in Stuart are grounded, family focused hard workers. The nature of the river is unbeatable and the fishing is the best.

The only downside is the closest major airport is Palm Beach 45 minutes away. There also isn't that much in terms of high end restaurants or entertainment but you can always drop down to Palm Beach for that.

Plus, you might be only 30 minutes or less from Moroso. Convenient to get some track-time without driving hours just to get to a track.

thanks for the input guys...You can get a nice waterfront home there for under 2 mill which in Palm Beach MAYBE gets you a renovated cottage on a tiny lot. The distance to the airport is not a problem as I am that far away from the airport in St Aug [Jax] now.

No doubt! Congrats, you'll love it.

The only reason people pay all that extra cash in Palm Beach is bragging rights. Having worked there for over 13 years you couldn't pay me to live there.

Sewall's Point is one of my favorite places and home to long time Ferrari guy Greg Jones. Stuart has been over developed IMO.

I grew up in the Stuart area. I left for the USAF in 1981. The place has really grown a lot since then. I get down that way at least once a year. Palm Beach is a short hop down I-95.

Sewell's Point has some nice homes but there are areas that get smelly when the river turns. When I was in high school in the 70's we nicknamed it Sewer's Point. My Mom is still in Pt. Salerno. Although grown since I left Pt. Salerno still has the quaint fishing village feel.

Once my contract is up here in NW Florida, we plan to head east and south but will most likely settle near Melboune/Cocoa Beach.

Don't forget Hobe Sound, right down the road. Perfectly located between Stuart and Jupiter.

Hobe Sound is home to one of the world's most exquisite, but private, Ferrari collections.

The Mrs. has been known to drive their (real) 250 GTO home from Moroso on occasion.
