Stock for stock my friend, the Sv has nothing to worry about. I raced one several times, no worries. No worries racing a Murcielago either. I know there arent many tests of an Sv, but look at it this way, a 6.0 is a high 11 second car, 122 mph. The SV, is rated at 530hp, and weighs 3366pds, several hundred pounds lighter than a 6.0. They rate the power at 530hp, but dont factor the ram air. Here some accel figures for an Sv: Acceleration 0-1000 meter: 21,3 s (255,4 km/h) Acceleration 0-40 km/h: 1,5 s Acceleration 0-60 km/h: 2,2 s Acceleration 0-80 km/h: 3,3 s Acceleration 0-100 km/h: 3,85 s (3,9 s) Acceleration 0-160 km/h: 8,3 s Acceleration 0-200 km/h: 11,2 s Acceleration 0-300 kn/h: In other words, 0-100mph in 8.3 sec, 0-125mph in 11.2 . My car, with exhaust and nitrous, will destroy an Srt, but thats not apples to apples.
What's interesting is that last time you took a poll I thought it was overwhelmingly for the 996TT... we're just going to keep flip-flopping every time you ask. Viper does stand out more than a Porsche, mainly because very few can distinguish the TT from the C2 from the Boxster anyway. Also, if you're planning on selling the 355, you might still want a convertible to enjoy the ocean breeze. BTW, my mother just moved to Oahu and got remarried... so who knows, maybe I'll be stopping back by the islands sometime.
Also because every doctor/lawyer has a P car and they drive it to work all the time, thus you see more of them. Usually these people don't buy the viper. That may be a reason you don't see vipers so much For some reason, doctors/lawyers tend to like the sophistication, class, and luxury equated with the 911TT cars. When one thinks of Viper, they think brute force. To me I picture club owners, bail bonds company owners, and entreprenuers driving the Viper. Sorry for generalizing, just my .02
Allan, I bought a 1998 RT/10 (Gen 2) in December for $50k. It's been nothing but fun, and I think you would probably really like a Viper. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Andy Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Allan 1. Buy a beater when you are just stopping by to pick up Macadamian Nuts at the store. 2. Buy a Suzuki GSX-1300R/Hayabusa and a Turbo Kit when you want to drag race. 3. Save your $$ for the 2WD SV/GT-R Murcielago.
Nice car Andy! I bought a book at the bookstore on Vipers today. My wife said i should get a blue one with white stripes. Where those only made in 96-97? I want an ACR. Ralph, shouldnt you be getting some pictures together? Viper has no bearing on getting a Murci.
THen you should go with the wife's idea and get the GTS. Though I can only seem to picture you in a yellow one.
Thanks Allan. You are correct, The blue/white snakes were only made from 96-97. The ACRs ran from '99-'02. I believe that the first year of the ACR did not contain a radio, air conditioning or fog lights. I think in the later years they started adding all of that stuff back in.
Alan- the ACR's have a little harsher stiffer ride than the GTS, something you might consider if its for the wife....
No this car is for me not the wife. I like the Acr wheels. Plus its new. Everytime ive looked at an older one, theyve been very sketchy. I like the red with white stripes with chrome ACR wheels, or yellow with black Stripes. I just cant wait to blow the tires off down the street in one. I want a car that i can do all the things id never do to my Sv in. Like donuts, burnouts, drag race.
How about a 348...then add the twin turbo kit....NOS.....? same price, very cool, very moded Vincent.
OOPS Alan- forgot, your only hard choice now will be to choose from the color/stripe combo that fits the best! IMHO for me the Sapphire Blue/Silver stripes...or Silver/Black stripes then the red/silver.....oh yeah all with the ACR rims!
Allan I am overseas in Israel I cannot take pictures of any Lamborghinis here. Lots of pretty girls to take pics of though.
The problem with the Murcie is that i have very limited use of the Diablo already. So i dont know if i want to spend even more money on a car that will get equally as little use. I dont want to get rid of the Sv, but cant justify keeping it and adding a Murci, so if i get a Murci i will trade in the SV, and buy another Diablo when i move back to the mainland. For now, im waiting to see what the future holds for the Murci, since i dont want to go ahead and buy one, and then afew months from now, an all new 750hp Sv type show up.
Frogman, Don't forget he also gets to live and enjoy Hawaii! Yes, Allan is truly a lucky man, but I think it has to do more with his hard work, then just pure luck.
By the way, if you are showing this thread to your friends, you should show them another one on F chat, where a gentleman is selling his Ferrari, because he needs to make more time to use his new helicopter that he is getting. Sometimes, I think I live on a different planet ..LOL
No helicopter for me! Also, im already married, so not hot brazilian for me. Hawaii is not all its cracked up to be! Trust me. I would leave here in a heartbeat if my wife and i could make the same money on the mainland. I wish i could atleast live on Oahu.
Tell me the downsides of Hawaii. From where I am sitting, I would change locations with you in a heartbeat, regardless of money.
Ditch the Viper idea and buy a GT-2. Now that's a car. 2 wheel drive so no tranny problems and you can boots the chit out of it. I've got a single turbo Supra and I would compare it to a 650 h.p. Viper. I am currently in the market for a 996tt for which I will trade in my 355 (once I get the headers fixed). I plan to juice it up a little, but boy do I wish I had the coin for a GT-2. I am obviously on a tighter budget than yourself and therefore require a little more dependability in the 996tt, but I gotta give it up to anyone in a GT-2.
