stuck front trunk, 84 308gts

My 84 308gts front trunk(?) will not open. The latches do release and the lid raises a little, but then something binds after about 2 inches. There in no interference between the body and the lid, all gaps look good, worked fine a few days ago.
Any opinions appreciated....

 

Sounds like you've familiar with that area, it doesn't look to promising from the bottom. It seems like the right hinge is binding, the strut seems to be moving. I might do nothing and see if it fixes itself (fat chance huh), as long as I don't need to get to the battery, spare tire or CD cassette....

 

sprayed a lot of kroil penetrating oil around the hinge pivots and slowly worked the hood up and down, it finally freed up and again works fine. Wouldn't hurt if you guys lubed up yours.... Larry
