Hello all! I'm currently working on a 599 and have run into a snag so thought I may see if anybody has suggestions I have not thought of. Car was shifting fine but the hydraulic portion of the actuator was heavily leaking F1 fluid and kicking on a low fluid warning so a "good" used replacement was ordered and installed. I must admit that the used replacement may be the culprit of the issues but for now I'm attempting to diagnose the exact issue rather than blame a part. The pump primes the system and when I request 1st gear the actuator attempts to do it's job, fails, and then displays trans fault. This fault becomes absent after keys are removed from ignition and then reinserted and ignition turned back on. At this point the only thing I can think of that I have not done is remove the actuator portion from gearbox housing and center the shift fork mechanism. I only have the 360/430 tool unfortunately. - After replacing the actuator I filled up the F1 reservoir and then bled the actuator using my Launch diagnostic tool. I followed this procedure 3 times while unscrewing the three bleed screws 2 complete turns each. - I then ran 2 clutch bleed cycles to confirm no air bubbles from that section. Only 100ml or so per bleed cycle comes out so perhaps there could still be trapped air up stream from where I bled? - Checked the engagement and selection sensor data and confirmed both are slightly outside of the High/Low data window currently on the TCU for N. - Attempted a relearn process. Trans will still not shift out of N. Pump has system at full 50-52 bar prior to attempt. - Noticed battery was not keeping up after minimal use. Warrantied out battery. (Battery Type AGM) - Ran relearn process again after battery change. Still fails to shift out of N. - Ran the Actuator Calibration function but no change in issue. - Used Launch tool to attempt shift into 1st. No Joy. - Used Launch tool to bleed actuator for a forth time. No change in issue. - Checked F1 reservoir level with no pressure to confirm proper level. - Banged head against wall and pondered life choices. No change in issue. - Attempted to shift into 1st using paddles and depressing brake pedal. Launch tool shows 1st gear is requested but ultimately stays in N. If anybody has any recommendations I would surely appreciate input. Thanks! Dan
Did you take sensors off old and put on new .. if so check that the arms are correctly lined up Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Thanks Flash but the actuator on the 599 is a two piece system. The portion with the shift fork and potentiometers was never touched.
Sent you a PM offering to brainstorm on phone about your issue ..maybe we can make some progress Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Update: I replaced the actuator with another used unit. This time I can engage all the gears but some of the potentiometer numbers are WAY off and the relearn procedure will not begin. It will stay in N and then end the relearn procedure. The pot numbers are consistent for each gear I engage via the Launch tool. I ran the "Actuator Calibration" procedure after engaging 3rd, then 4th then Neutral but still no joy. I've ran the actuator bleed procedure more times than I can count but still no success.
You sure its not the sensors, I'm having a similar issue currently, cant get the sensors for love nor money though.
John, were your engagement and selection numbers random, sporadic or were they consistently the same values?
