Any Challenge car drivers with F1 gearboxes ever have problems with being stalled "on track" and not being able to get the car into neutral so it can be towed in? Is this ever a concern or possible failure mode (stuck in gear)?

    Hello FBB,

Yes I did. Last year Sept 2013, I was in a race, and my 360C only lasted for two laps, than the F1 quit working, it stucked in 2nd gear, it would not shift up, nor shift down or neutral... I cruised my car in 2nd gear 30MPH, back into the pit, shut off and retired. Later we found the problem. The alternator in my 360C failed right before the race, and I was running my two laps with battery power along, than all sorts of electrical problems coming out later. Got the alternator replaced, all things back to normal working condition now. Look forward to next race.

Yes, 360 challenge, I forgot to put car in neutral and turned it off, tightened the lug bolts and car would not go into neutral. Gave her a little push back & forth - must have released pressure on the engaged 1st gear and all was well.
I make sure she's in N before I shut off, and chock the wheels when doing any work.

I've read about this years ago on an f1 equipped f355, also common on 360's. When they get good and hot and are parked after a track session, when trying to engage neutral they get stuck. Solution was to rock the car back and forth while someone operated the paddles and it would unstick and work. Not sure if that helps you or not but worth a try if this happens to you on track.

Here you go, about 3/4 down the page, a good read anyway:

I lost power on track instantly and the car was stuck in second gear. I had to flatbed the car off the track. They had to drag the car in gear. Thankfully the rear wheels were in the grass. We had to use two portable jackets to remove it off the truck. The emergency crew was very good (12 hours of Sebring)and laughing the entire time about the Ferrari with the fancy electronic transmission. The shut off switch was bad. We replaced it. The car fired right up. Off I went with no problems.

Just a bad switch. I guess going over some rumble strips on the course broke it.
