Why oh why did I have to use the parking brake while parked? The pads somehow got stuck to the rotors and I couldn’t move it. Tried rocking the car back and forth to no avail. Eventually had it flatbedded home, whereupon the pads became unstuck on the trip back and are now fine. First time in seven years of ownership that the car’s stranded me.

The parking brake is a pretty simple, and mostly exposed, cable operated system. Should be easy to diagnose.

As you have seen the "clamp on" caliper only clamps.....unclamping is another matter.

More experienced can comment, but a good cleaning and lube, and then, as I do, look for a brick and chock the wheels.
