    Gents -

I'm temporarily stuck without a key FOB for my 360. When i last locked the car door, i did so with the FOB, so the alarm is set on the car

I know how to enter the PIN to start the car, but as soon as i put the key in the car door to unlock the car, it will set the alarm off.

The question is when i enter the PIN, will the alarm go off?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Can't say I have any experience with this myself, but are you sure this is the way it works?
This seems like a funny bit of logic. I'd assume that if my car were alarmed, then using the key to unlock would disable it.
Mind you, it would not necessarily disable the ignition killing feature of the system, but should not allow the siren to sound.

I'd assume the ignition kill would be disabled once you enter the proper code doing the key sequence.

Again, I don't know this, just a hunch. Take it with a grain of salt.

    Bobby,

You should have an 'Alarm Specific' little booklet (red Ferrari Cover) on alarm only, with your owners manual.

I guess you've discovered by now that the alarm with go off when you open the door with using the alarm fob.

I don't believe that entering the PIN code with the key will disarm it, but rather only the immobiliser on the ignition circuit.

It will, of course disarm/reset itself after a period of minutes, but during this time the neighbours will be curious.

zippy / donie - thanks for the reply guys.

Unfortunately, yes i have the alarm book, but it's stuck inside of the car!!

So if i understand this correctly, when i open the door with the key, the alarm WILL begin to sound.

Then i can put in the PIN code to get passed the imobilizer.

eventually then after i get the car started, the alarm will disarm itself??

There is a simple test here:

If someone has a 360, lock the doors with the key FOB, then try to unlock with the key, and start the car by using the PIN code. What then happens with the alarm?? Does it disarm itself?

    Thanks guys.

Agreed, simple test. Just do it. If it doesn't diable the alarm (what I would expect) shut off the car and the alarm will reset after a while and quit sounding.

My fear here is that i get into the car but wont be able to get it started because the alarm is going off. Then i'm screwed with a car that's going to have an alarm going off unitl the battery is dead, then i've got another problem on my hands!!

Can someone with a 360, who knows how to turn on their car with their PIN number test this for me?

    Help is greatly appreciated.

    Bobby,

I can't do the test for you until tomorrow when I'm back at my base where the car is located.

The Fob/remote control works directly with the alarm siren unit which is located down below the access panel, forward of the windscreen in the trunk.

It's not controlled by the PIN.

The alarm will sound for several minutes and then will reset itself.

It shouldn't be a big problem unless your car is currently in situation where people are going to be out looking to see what the problem is, but nowadays it's not the big problem you imagine.

    Go for it !

Inputting the PIN should be straightforward unless you have a zero in your PIN Code.

The alarm should reset after a couple of minutes. I would test it but I happen to be missing my PIN. Working that problem but no way to test it for you.

I'm a bit surprised that someone hasn't checked this yet...

Those of us who are 360 owners should have an idea of what to expect if we're away from our spare FOB's and the one we have on us gets destroyed somehow...

Imagine - you park the Fcar, set the alarm, and then you start your date with the woman of your dreams... You're sitting by the fountain in the downtown area, and the keys w/ the FOB slip out of your pocket and into the fountain.

Crap does happen sometimes... That's why i'm a bit suprised that out of all 360 owners on this board, not a single one has taken 3 minutes to walk to the garage and try figure this out in case of emergency.

    Help!!

    Bobby,

I opened the door without disarming the alarm, and as expected, the siren went off.

It's a 'Beep Beep Beep' and not as loud as you might expect.

Simultaneously the hazard lights began to flash.

The alarm sound stopped after about two minutes, but the hazards continued for about five minutes before stopping.

I didn't insert the PIN code.

The only drawback I discovered is that if your close the driver's door and open it again, the racket begins all over again.

In conclusion the 'Din' isn't all that bad, and both hazards, and alarm siren reset.

So I say 'go for it' and perhaps the PIN input may cancel the setting in addition to switching off the immobiliser.

    Good luck.

    Bobby,

The thought has just struck me that I was wrong when I suggested that only the fob/remote controls the siren.

That can't be true since the antenna for the system is contained in the area where the ECU is located, in the panel, below, and behind, the driver's seat.

Sp apart from the racket, and flashing hazards, during the PIN entry procedure, you will be 'good to go' after the PIN is accepted.

    Donie -

    You're absolutely correct!

It's alive!! my 360 is alive!!

I got the car started, and it disarmed the alarm completely.

Thanks for your help on this one.... I'm off for a drive!!

thanks again!! I owe you a beer when you come around the DC area...
