Not surprising unfortunately. I don't think this is going to get any better at least in Miami because of the ridiculous amounts of ongoing construction on the highways making things confusing for everyone. Not to mention the Miami driver mentality who prefer to plow through 4 lanes of traffic in an instant to get off an exit instead of just passing it and making a u-turn a couple of miles down the road.

It won’t get better. Too many people and too many more coming daily. Even the turnpike is a cluster **** now from 4-6.

We need a good Cat 4/5 to scare people away.

I-95 through N Palm Beach is a suicide run lol. I was in the 458 doing 85-90 in the left lane going from Ft. Lauderdale to Cavallino and I got flipped off by a bunch of guys passing me on the right that had to be doing 100 in Camrys. I finally moved over and then had trucks running up behind me at 85 lol. It’s nuts. I wound up taking A1A all the way home.

    It is crazy!!!

Just remember though the left lane is for passing. Doesn’t matter if you are going 100mph, if someone is coming up in your rear view pull over. Please don’t be that guy that doesn’t pull aside even when you are flashed. :)

People camping in the left lane is one of the main reasons why traffic is getting worse lately.

My biggest pet peeve and has to be biggest contributor to road rage. Causes people to switch through all lanes making things more dangerous.

It drives me absolutely crazy! Every single day on the way to and from work I probably flash my lights at about a dozen people doing 60 (not even the speed limit) in the left lane on the turnpike. I’m lucky if two move over. The rest just look up and do nothing. then I have to go around by passing on the right. The damn Canadians are the worst!

Lol, I wish I could ram them off the road. :)

Trust me I know that. These guys were weaving in and out of lanes like it was NASCAR.

As far as traffic is concerned, this may be the only place that beats out Atlanta.

(And I never would’ve thought any place could be worse than Atlanta).

From Stuart to Miami (97 miles) you have to plan on 3 1/2 hrs….one way.

This place is a cluster ****. I hate it. The weather in the winter is perfect. But the frustration of living in it…I don’t know whether it’s worth it or not.

I hate I95. Last fall on a ride to Key Largo I decided to drive to from Palm Beach to Miami on A1A. Took me 3.5 hours. Traffic sucks everywhere in South Florida. On the return I took I95, and between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale came as close to a crash as I have in many years when a BMW (of course) with NY plates (also of course) suddenly changed lanes right in front of me at about 85 mph and forced me towards the guardrail. Only my instincts and abilities from years of racing saved us from flipping over the guardrail into oncoming traffic and disaster.

It wasn't always this way. Too many transplants and greed is what is ruining it.

The way our roads are set up doesn't allow for any type of expansion to cope with the massive growth. Factor that in with all the greedy developers who build apartments and condos that add a massive amount of people into a tiny area and you get the mess we now have. Any green land gets bulldozed into cheap shopping malls so we can have a Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Target and Walmart every 5 square miles. How many ******** stores do people need? I won't be surprised when they decide to fill the glades so they can build. The hell with nature, right? Unfortunately the people who are coming here are all for making it like the ****hole they left. We are doomed unless a good Cat 5 comes through and scares them all away. :) It's about time mother nature gave us a good slap. ;)

I lived in Stuart back in '97 and it was the perfect small Florida town. People were laid back and very down to earth. Sadly the cancer that is Miami has spread so far north that it has ruined most of southeast Florida.

The minute I can I'll be moving a bit north. Somewhere that is remote and still has the old Florida life where I can enjoy the weather and fish.

Tell her stay out of the left lane unless she is passing!!! :)

Forget the traffic. You don't even want to know how bad our flats and estuaries have gotten. Not sure you'd recognize it anymore. :(

Can I rant about the price of real estate because of the influx of northerners into south Florida? It’s out of control. Young people coming up may never be able to buy a house. I remember when 836 was two lanes each way and we had a toll that was a dime.

Those of you here who know me know that after >50 years in Ft Lauderdale I moved to north Florida in 2014. We loved a lot about FLL but it just got to be too much. Our neighborhood, Rio Vista, has been built to the max with some very nice homes, but also with a lot of vulgarity, especially on the river and the intracoastal. The neighborhood has lost the sense of human scale that it once had. The infrastructure in the city is suffering and a city that once prided itself on good civic management is now managed more by political points of view than what is best for the city. (I still keep up with the news down there).

We still go down there 2-3 times a year and it always tends to validate our decision. We like the restaurants and seeing the few friends who still live there, but even just a short visit can be fraught with anxiety brought on by traffic, crowding, noise, etc. Some of this is age related, of course, but in general I just don’t see it as an optimal place to live anymore.

So if not " down there " where did you choose to go? Sounds like Florida got too popular...

You mean “south New York”. ;)

Keep your new town quiet. Once word gets out it will get ruined. Hopefully I’ll get out to “my Florida” before it’s too late.

Same here. But too many northerners are discovering it quickly. I see their New York and New Jersey plates on cars in our Publix's parking lot.
