    On a dark and stormy night 37 years ago I drove up a dirt raod to look at a Ferrari 750 Monza that was bieng offered for $2500. The owner took me for a ride. It was the fastest car I'd ever been in. It was powered by a 327. The original engine, what was left of it, was in Oscars barn and was free if you bought the car. Serial #?

    Even though 0588 M is an 857 Sport and not a 750 Monza, that's my guess: 0588 M.

    Jim, if that dirt road was in NY (You were attending school in Yonkers at the time, no?) and the car had a finned headrest, I would guess that Carbon is right. At least one person has theorized that this car might have been run as both a 750 and 857, so you might not be completely wrong by referring to it as a "750 Monza." Besides, at the time it had a Chevy 327 in it anyway so I guess you could even call it a "670 Monza" (based on displacement in cc's of a single cylinder). Whaddaya say? Fin? No fin?

    I do remember it that way. Do you have a photo? I think I remember that the founder of the Polish Racing Team Oscar Kovolesky owned the car at one time.

    BTW I was going to school in da Bronx at the time.

    With the chevy it was Un Monstere.

    As much as i'd like to bask in this glory and smile at my 15 minutes of fame of hanging with the 'experts', if it weren't for Gerald's resources, i wouldn't have come up with the answer... Wayne helped out, too... :)

    Does anybody else remember when Carbon couldn't tell the diff between a 308 and 328? My how times change....
