Is it just me or are the texts of the Bridgestone commercial during the F1 races just plain stupid? I love the photography, especially the one with the Enzo, but the texts are so dumb: "The wheel goes round and round." - Oh really, I wasn't aware of that. "You live for technolog." - Hell no. I use technology in my life, but I certainly don't live for it. And what's with the kid kickboxing the tire? Sheesh, I'm so bored with the same commercials all the time (even the Porsche kid playing with his food gets old after 1,000 viewings), I wouldn't mind Fosters - Australian for Beer back.
I don't mind the Bridgestone commercials, but those two Porsche Cayenne commercials get on my nerves. I did like the old Pirelli commecials featuring Carl Lewis with treaded feet!
Do you guys remember the old Goodyear (was it?) commercial from the late 80's with the TR (I think?, man we are clearing some cobwebs here!) flat out gettin' it. It comes to a screeching halt, the door opens and Enzo gets out with a big grin teetering on a cane. The tag line was something like, "Why Gooyear? Because Enzo wouldn't have it any other way!" THAT was too cool! I think I read somewhere that Enzo passed away shortly thereafter. Jim
I hate all commercials. I am usually getting 'refreshements' or checking on the bbq during commercials.
I couldn't agree with you more. That kid kicking the tire is just another example of commercials with people kicking. It's apparently required to interest Gen Y-ers.
Yeah, the kicking was kind of out there - it was kind of a 'dancing kick' too... who sits in a pile of tires looking at a Palm Pilot? The music tune was catchy, but the lyrics needed more *something.* Not as good as the Michelin commercial with the Brabus MB, although that isn't great, either. Why not just have 30 musicless seconds of Stradale footage? Or Enzo? Just show the car peeling around a track ala Victory by Design. Have someone like Jeremy Clarkson, Tiff Needell or even Alain de Cadenet raving about the tires as they drive like madmen . That's the tire commercial that car guys would want. The Carl Lewis one Jim mentioned (running across the water) was awesome... I seem to remember one with Ray Charles driving [at Bonneville]?
I kinda like the Budweiser commercial, with JPM whining that the track is too tough. Although the HP remote control Williams cars one was cute. Has anyone else noticed Speed Channel's uncanny ability to go to commercial, just in time to miss the action? They really ought to do a picture-in-picture of the race during commercials, to keep people from wandering off (or changing channels) during those 2-3 lap commercial breaks. It's not like we'd miss the commentary much.
Yeah i have to agree with you on this one after watching it a couple of times I am wishing that they would atleast change the dialog of the commercial.. I.E "How many times have i told you, Don't act like a little **** while i am trying to get laid!!!!! Porsche it's an extension of your lack of manhood!!!!" but the Bridgestone commercials are a bunch of BS also
Out of the whole lineup of commercials that are shown during an F1 race here, the Bridgestone ad is the best one you can hope to watch. It's just a series of Ferrari F1 stills (one for every constructor's championship Ferrari have won consecutively) with the words "win" written on each. Nothing flashy, just short and to the point. I don't understand why more commercials shown during sporting events aren't concise and to the ******* point. There's few things that will put me off a product more than having to sit through a drawn out piece of tripe advertising it, all the while I'm anxiously waiting to see what is happening during the race. I spent 99% of my time cursing at the stuff being promoted -when it comes to advertising my only criticisms are that it's too bloody long.
Must be nice. because we dont get that commercial here in the states. At least at the USGP this year i will not have to worry about any of this crap as i will be enjoying the race live. now it they would just stop showing the comercials on the jumbotrons durring intermission at the track.
I´ve heard of that commercial but I never have seen it. Do you know if I can find it somewhere in the web?
