Stupid event, stupid people, stupid results. Corvette goes into crowd this time, not a Mustang. In the video you can see a couple people get hit, a girl takes it really hard in the head. Driver couldn't have been out of High School in a modified C7. Also notice the event, barely any exotics or even any Porsches. All Mustangs, Vettes, and other American. Park Up Front registers the event, yet they wouldn't accept 95% of the cars there for their app or service.
I never know when or where these are because I refuse Park Up Front. I try to make Yogis Bagels and the Starbucks but admit I could use some car-diversity. Sad that there are still jerks aplenty.
When I attend these things I park as far away the the street as possible- We had a similar incident here a few years ago where some dumbass in a kit Cobra <WADR TO Cobra replicas- Many are awesome!> decided to do a burnout leaving- lost it and took out two Porsches and a beautiful older hot rod - Fortunately no injuries but that was just dumb luck. It's tempting to get there early and park in the most visible spot- But unfortunately that's also risky.
You must not have watched the full video, there were a lot of exotics leaving. Many McLarens, quite a few Lambos, a few Ferraris. Some A8’s, GT4’s and other cool toys. I can’t believe the SL police haven’t shut it down like the Plano police did years ago. So much assholiness going on…. I truly hope the girls are ok. A post on Reddit said one broke her neck…
What a motley collection of crap......and standing on the side of the road yelling at young drivers to floor it? Sure nothing could go wrong there. This kid will be sued for everything he has and alot of things he doesn't.
That's a base model C6, maybe with a LS2. Driving without traction control on is an easy way to send a Corvette into curb, also not having experience also might have a lot to do with it. The bizarre thing is while waiting on the police & EMT's, event attendees were still standing in the road while some vehicles recklessly sped by. I'm wondering if that kid's parents will be lawyering up or PUF, maybe both?
As one of the first "official" members of Exotics at Redmond Town Center or ERTC, we created a group of "Parking Thugs" to A) responsible for admitting or turning away cars, B) grouping and parking cars as we wanted and C) no f*&^ing revving or burnouts. If you committed C then you were NEVER allowed to come back. In the first year of being organized (2009) we had the Redmond Police attend and put a patrol car front and center. This helped get the message across to everyone that we were serious about C. ERTC is still alive and going strong today even though I do not live there anymore. I have tried to attend a few gatherings around Houston and I abhor all of them. They are just like this. Memorial Mall gets 1500 cars and maybe 100 or so are exotic, high end or rare. I also like a tasteful restomod or well done hotrod too. But there is absolutely no structure or control over an event in a parking lot with this many cars and twice as many people. Its too much. Everything ERTC was, Memorial is the opposite. So I have not attended a car event in over 3yrs now. ERTC is the one and only thing I miss from my PNW time.
My understanding was it was a 17 year old kid driving the Vette, and that the girls were/are ok, besides for bumps/bruises. I'm told the cops arrested the kid. Park Up Front crew really does try, they don't want their stuff devolving into the typical night meet. This episode is the worst I am aware,of by a long shot. The best event PUF puts on is cars and cantina the first Saturday of every month, and it definitely ranks as one of the best "cars and coffee" I've ever been too. That includes Katy's in great falls va, and the "old days" cars and coffee in Irvine CA. Would encourage you all to go try it. Most of the folks attending are the chill car folks, not the rowdy bunch. You get a few revers, and folks screeching tires on leaving to "impress" the onlookers trying to hear/see the cars leave. The location (onto surface streets vs highway service road) and police presence on the surface road keeps dumb stuff to a minimum. ....And being frank, most of the issues I've seen are from the spectators peeling out vs the cars participating. Cars and Coverica is also a very good event, and extremely low key. Dave
Again, I will point back to how ERTC was created and policed itself. Why? Because we had INSURANCE to protect the founders/creators/members from people we cannot control or anticipate their actions. I do not EVER recall allowing anyone under 25yr in unless someone knew them personally. Otherwise it was most likely someone with their dad's car and have yet to grow up. I know, I was one of those but without my dad's car at one time. I truly hope the girl injured does not have a broken neck. That is not something you just recover from and quickly. Let's at least pray she can return to somewhat normal if this is true.
