OK, a really dumb one here. I've searched the threads high and low, and can't seem to find the answer I think I already know. Is the 1-4 engine bank the driver's side, and the 5-8 bank the passenger's side?

    Thanks,
    JE

All depends if your car is left or right hand drive...

The numbers are on the valve cover somewhere, I am pretty sure.

Every engine that I know of has the number one cylinder as being the one closest to the front of the motor. On the F355 that is the right side when standing behind the car.

No #'s on the 355 valve cover...but as you say, #1 is closest to the passenger seat (on right side of car). As a double check there are numbers next to the plug wires on the ignition coil, but you would have to trace back where each wire ends up.
