First, let me tell you that this "slow down" has nothing to do with my previous posts about my red glowing cat, that's a separate issue. The red glowing cat is red glowing without showing "slow down"

This case is really interesting, I have never even heard of it before!!! So hear me on.

My 360 has this intermittent slow down light after some 30 min drive. It is always the RH side(bank 1) as seen on Leonardo. Almost every drive, spirited or not. As usually, lots of theories and problem solving regarding this. Things like, bad cat ecu, bad thermo-couple, bad coil, bad plug, bad timing, too much fuel, etc etc. Ha, NONE OF THESE. let me tell you why.

The picture below shows my experimentation.

In the red rectangle is a brand new thermal couple with its connector connected to the cat ecu. The probe side of the new thermo-couple was NOT inserted to the cat.

The red arrow points to the connector of my old thermo-couple which is disconnected from the cat ECU but the probe side is still screwed to the cat.

After this setup, I drive the car. And the "slow down" still shows up after about 30 minutes.

I started laughing as I know it is something bout the monitoring system, not my cat.

Now, my cat ecu is brand new, I even tried another known good used cat ecu as well to eliminate the possibility of a new but bad cat ecu.

So how could this happen? Does anyone know what's the chain of events that caused the instrument to show "slow down"? Is there an ignition ECU pin that sends a signal to the instrument to show slow down? I am beginning to suspect my ignition ECU has a problem if that's what sends the instrument the "slow down" signal.

    Thank you for reading.

The error codes for cat temp and subsequent slow down monitoring are measured on both left and right banks so what was the setup like on the other side and what CEL code illuminated? I'm guessing it was the other side that triggered it or a code related to plausibility. Not having the probe plugged in will definitely trigger a plausibility issue. I decoded the cat temp monitoring lately and posted how it worked. Let me dig out the explanation for you. The ecu keeps checks against a model of temperature so if what it sees deviates by a given threshold you get a CEL too.

the other side (LH side) is normal. And there's no code on LH side. There's only "cat converter temp out of range (b1)" on the RH igntion ecu.

I see that in the leonardo there's a "catalytic converter temperature model" and it changes as I change my driving style

So ok, I get it, if the probe's temp deviates from this "model temp" too much , I also get a "slow down" , ha?

Slow down warning occurs if the detected temperature is above or below the desired range.
